I was kind of bummed that valve didn't come up with a replacement for the knife. They also didn't come up with replacements for the kukri and the grenade launcher. Why is this? There's definitely potential for these weapons.
ANYWAYS, here's the crude drawing/stupid "wacky-yet-informative-ala-valve" writeup i did for it.

I haven't come up with a name for it, but the concept is there.
Here's a tl;dr version of what it does:
Pros:

On backstab, user gains 25% of their cloak meter back.

On backstab, the enemy corpse changes to the same color as your team (and possibly disappears 2x faster so that you can remain inconspicuous).
Cons:

On backstab, a zapping sound is emitted (slightly louder than the normal backstab sound).

If you backstab a sniper wearing the razorback, you will become stunned (as if a scout hit you with the sandman) and receive 25 damage.

20% slower rate of fire.
Ideas on how i can improve this idea/any name suggestions? I wanna post this on the steam forums or maybe email it to gabe since steam forums are absolute trash.
meh, better model nao. Not tf2ey-ey
it's a good idea, but it doesn't feel tf2-like.

the same could be said about the demoman's unlocks, but hey, here we are...
Doesn't seem like there is a big enough con for such a good pro as 25% cloak meter back.
The blade part needs to be made of copper and a wire should be wrapping around the handle IMO. Other then that it sounds pretty sweet.
Seems quite good man, I assume that it works like the Ubersaw?
10% or 15% cloak recharge would make this more balanced, 25% is approximately 2.5 seconds of cloak (IIRC) using the default watch, more than enough time to escape after any kill.

well the 25% could get lowered to 10%, or it could lower the spy's health by 25 hp or something. There's lots of alternatives.
When you backstab someone, your are in contact with thier weapon. The weapon gives you 50% cloak IIRC.
To be honest, the main objective of this knife was to somehow make backstabs more stealthy. At first i imagined this knife would cause the enemy to become electrocuted and turn into a pile of ashes (would use some sort of fancy particle effect).
This would effectively cause their corpse to disappear so that nobody knows the spy is in the area.
Of course that didn't seem viable so i decided that it should at least change the color of the corpse's uniform at the very least.
A backstab meter could be useful, somewhat like the ubersaw, each backstab partially charges this meter and when it is full you can activate a 5 to 10 second minicrit spree. This is replacing the cloak recharge you originally put forward. This could make the default revolver more useful to people who are not adept at getting headshots with the Ambassador.
It's also a bad idea because some people disable corpses.
So far I see no reason for anyone to use this weapon.

While that's a decent idea, that won't change the fact that whoever got backstabbed will most likely say something about it over their mic to their time, thus alerting them to your general presence.

wow. why do they even allow that.
hmm, so that means i have to consider alternatives. perhaps it could silence the enemy you backstab, so you remain stealthy and don't alert his teammates.
there are a lot of factors that make being stealthy a really hard thing to do.

Now THAT is a good pro.
a knife like that would need a new design. something more sinister looking. like a balisong but with a crooked blade or something
garrot wire
Dude, what the fuck, this is awesome.
But when you backstab someone, they drop ammo anyways, so what's the point? And what about the people with no corpses (high FPS configs)?
I like this idea a lot.
But noodleboy brings up a good point.
How about when you backstab them, an electrical shock gets sent to players nearby, blinding them like a flashbang for quick interval, effectively giving you a bit more escape time.
Wow that's actually a good idea
But wouldn't the kill still show up in the top right?
I like it.
What if the bodies completely disappeared and you instantly stole their identity?
I was thinking that earlier, but i think that's slightly OP.

How about you get a charge meter for the flashbang from each kill, so that you could store it and use it another time? If it happened each time, you'd alert the people around you much more than necessary.
The silencer idea is a good one too. Personally, I keep track of the killscroll and the noises around me for spies, so if it were a stealth kill weapon, it wouldn't show up on the killscroll until a couple seconds after? Someone else came up with this idea though.

I was bored. I may end up modeling a fancier one in Max... we'll see.

Oh, just realized the wire would render the knife useless. Oh well, just a shitty Photoshop anyway.
What did you.. do, exactly?

That is a really great idea, would enhance the "spy works alone" idea, email this idea to robin walker now, I'm not even joking. DO IT.
