What? Like fuck it is. It's like judging someone for being a spoilt brat who can never have enough. Promos have utterly destroyed the artstyle of the game. You are one of the thousands of utter morons eating this shit up like it's the best thing since the big bang, causing even more unfitting crap to be added.
Honestly, If TF2 updates are gonna be vastly of the promotional or community nature from here on out, I would rather see them stop development on TF2 then sully this once great games reputation...

Let's not forget that with enough of the little bastards maps can be rendered unplayable, as the cp_steel incident proved.
We had exact numbers before, forgot where the chart went, but it showed the capacity of each of the maps, with 2fort being the closest to utter destruction.
Though this may have been resolved, I dunno.

Yeah, Steel became unplayable, as thanks to the idiots who think the game revolves around hats and promo items, the model cache kept overflowing.

Deal with it, Valve is catering to the majority of the community, not the small percent of "hardcore fans" who constantly bitch and whine about the art style being ruined by cosmetics on a class's head.

The limit is only a hardcoded safe guard to prevent overflow so nothing broke. Yes, they went crazy and probably didn't see this coming but the fix probably just involved raising the model cache limit.
Either way this dynamic model loading they implemented was most likely made to solve this problem. They could probably add a 1,000 hats now and it won't make much difference in performance. So that most likely means more promos... and hats.
I think the crashing is supposed to be a stat. But, to balance it out, the downside is no random crits.
