Probably a stupid question, but does multicore rendering allow you to use more than one CPU or more than one GPU.
EX: I have a rig with a pentium dual core and a single nVidia GTX260, so would having multicore rendering on help my performance (Not that it matters, with the rig I get about 300 fps with 16xQSAA on whilst on a good server)?
Also, would having multicore rendering on (supposing it's multi-GPU) with a single GPU hinder performance?
...I like clocks
More than one CPU.

Wow! You got a 300Hz monitor? :aaa:
Clocks are for late people. Boxes are for retards.
I doubt you get 300fps unless you're staring at the ground. Or running at 800x600.

Getting 300fps =/= Seeing 300fps.

I get an average of about 150 - 300 FPS on L4D on full.

You're not getting 300 FPS unless you're looking at the sky in an empty server. TF2 is more CPU intensive than GPU, and with a shitty Pentium Dual core you'll be lucky to get 30 FPS in a battle in a crowded server.

I average 300 in HL2, and 100 in TF2. :P 1280x1024, windowed, medium settings.
FPS BATTLE! RAAAGHHHHH! :awesome:E-PEEN!!!!!
No seriously, its better to leave multicore rendering off, it actually hurts your FPS.

What resolution? And by full do you mean 8x/16x?0

Depends on the system. For me, my framerates almost double when it's engaged.
