So I've fallen victim to a disease called ping spikes. It's only become recent. I've played with net_graph 4 and everytime my ping spikes to 90-100 from usually 30-50. Everytime it does this my game stops for around 2 seconds and is extremely annoying to play with. This issue also happens on any other online source games (Garry's mod, TF2 etc.) I need a fix really badly. If I could get any help that'd be greatly appreciated, thanks.
what are your cl_update;cl_cmdrate and rate settings ? also is steam downloading any updates in the background while your playing ?
How do I check my cl_update cl_cmdrate settings? and, no. Nothing is running in the background.
they'll be in the tf/cfg folder in the config.cfg file mine are rate "30000" cl_cmdrate "100" cl_updaterate "100" as an example and i'm on 12mb's dsl
Maybe it could be your internet connection? In Windows 7 click start and type in CMD in the search programs and files box then hit enter. In the command prompt box type in ping 4.2.2.2 -t This will run an unlimited ping test to 4.2.2.2, which is a server owned my Level 3 which allows ping requests. Watch for any spikes in the average ping time while doing that.
