Hi all. When I first started suspecting this was around 2x drop week. I had bought an idle account but had never got around to setting up textmode and using it. When 2x drop week was running, I finally set it up, and guess what? 2 hat drops. So I decided to try again. The last time I had idled on this account was April 19, 2011. First drop of this weeks idling? A Baker Boy And right now? A bunch of good drops and a German Gonzila So yeah, if you care about hats, it turns out the best thing to do is to not play the game. Funny how that works out huh? :colbert:
One test does not science make.
One test does not science make.
I currently have a friends account that has not been touched in about 5 months. When it becomes one year old I will idle on it and see what goodies drop.
Its true. I did not idle 2 weeks or did not play 2 weeks. After that, bam! 2 hat drops. www.tf2items.com/id/galahad_23 (Puglist is still there, crafted the plunger and another hat for a geisha (Derp))

Funny how that works out huh? :colbert:
I figured this out a while ago.. But just thought it'd be common knowledge by now. Didn't play for about a month after christmas, or somewhere around there, and upon logging in I found a Hound dog one day, and another hat the (I can't remember what it was) the next.
I have a friend who hasn't played TF2 yet, I will ask him to use his account for a day or two, I will tell him that it's for science
Ugh guys, look at the current users viewing this thread icon on the lowest left corner
I play TF2 at least 5 times a week and I get pretty consistant hat drops.
Ugh guys, look at the current users viewing this thread icon on the lowest left corner
What about it?
I know, but I don't care.
Ugh guys, look at the current users viewing this thread icon on the lowest left corner
Uh, nine guys and two guests...?
Its spinning (Derp i know im late.)
I didn't play tf2 for about 3 months and within a day of playing again i got a christmas tree hat. I'm not gonna go for hats, but it worked for me i guess
Goddamn you people are lucky. The only 'hat' I have is the shitty gibus. But thanks for the info on hat drops, mate.
Not true at all.
I didn't play for months and got nothing.
I call bs since I didn't play for a year and didn't get shit when I played again
it's all about luck. If you do not play for a lot of time, your drop limit increases.
Bullshit. I started playing TF2 again after a 5 month hiatus or so and my item rate seems to be lower then anyone else. Haven't even gotta a new weapon except that honor bound katana thing.
My friend bought TF2, then didn't start it for months, due to not having a computer good to run it (he bought it because it was a good price at the time). When he finally got around to playing it, his first two drops were both hats. :tinfoil:
This is not how science works.
Wow, that's unfair. People who play the game a lot don't get as much hats as people who don't play? Bullshit
I don't play except for like once a month, I get hats, then I give them to whoever. If I can give them away, who wants my PvZ hats?
I didn't play for a week, started it up; This dropped: [img_thumb]http://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/a/a1/RED_Physician%27s_Procedure_Mask.png[/img_thumb] I was like; :haw:. Then I closed the game and didn't play for another 3 days, completely forgot about it.
No. It's a random generator, even if you perceive it differently. Whenever multiple hats in a relatively short amount of time dropped, I was quite active. Just because you can come up with a connection doesn't mean it's true. It's deductions like these that link days like Friday 13th to bad luck. It's not like the fate of the universe twists and bends around the Gregorian calendar of a piece of mud called Earth.

Actually, I haven't played the game in 6 months, and one of my first drops was the Sober Stuntman. I dismissed it as coincidence but maybe it's not.
:saddowns: Actually, I was looking at your backpack. I didn't know it was possible to obtain things like a vintage Brass Beast.
I have Vintage stuff? I didn't even notice... :v:
