so i had some ideas/guesses as to what would get included in the update.

im gay
You can fully upgrade building with the PDQ, but it only uses 10 metal a swing.
You can probably get a level 1 sentry up in a regular combat situation and have it up by level 3 by the time a PDQ can.
Those look awful, dear sir.
what's the PDQ? i assume it's the wrench update... but what are its pros/cons? and how do people know about it already?
what's the PDQ? i assume it's the wrench update... but what are its pros/cons? and how do people know about it already?
It was in the competitive beta and it got leaked and stuff.
I was thinking of something like a spy detector that would replace your teleporters. You place one and then the other and whenever a spy walks through the line the detectors make then it would make a sound.
Hacker ray to hack sentries. If VALVe can do that, then they've made my day.

To let them backfire or something?
i doubt valve will make any unlocks that allow engineers to fuck over other engineers or completely ruin the point of spies.
the unlocks will probably be balanced towards offensive engineers.
I remember seeing some good idea, a nail gun replacement for the pistol, does less damage but you can repair stuff from a distance.
A lasso to replace the pistol. I dunno. The Wrangler?
Something to the likes of a bug zapper to keep spies away from you crap.
Mobile, Blimp-like buildables (Exept teleports, that would get annoying.)
Lasso thing: Attack interval:0.8 (Same as Wrench) Mini-crit:88 Critical hit: 195 same critical hit rate as wrench. So Basically a long-ranged wrench. Wind-up time: 4 seconds.
Bug zapper: Duh. Wards off spy pests. 10 Damage per second, of an enemy within it's perimeters.
Mobile buildables: Sentries: attacks the nearest enemy, will not chase them down for more than 3 seconds. Half the health of a regular sentry, 400 metal to upgrade to the next level. Basically a flying sentry with half the health. Dispensers: Go/fly/float to the front lines and plants it-self behind cover.
(P.S.) "The P.D.Q. is an unlockable melee weapon for the Engineer in the closed beta, the attributes of which were leaked by testers. The P.D.Q. does not yet possess a unique model, texture, or animations; using the same as the regular wrench. The P.D.Q. cannot be used to upgrade buildings, instead increasing the Engineer's rate of construction by 150% percent. It is not yet known whether damage values vary from the regular wrench."
"Since the item is still in testing stages, these attributes may be changed or the weapon scrapped entirely."
I love how everyone wants anti-spy unlockables. It's not going to happen guys..
Everyone will come up with interesting and cool ideas for building replacements, then Valve will probably give him a hammer and armor to fight spies

The Grabin' Arm

Replaces shotgun or pistol
Grabs metal crates, fallen guns, and scraps of destroyed metal.
Range: 3-5m
Damage: none
Side effects:
Increases Pickup range of player to 1.5x normal
what kind of person would replace their shotgun with something that useless?
if you've paid attention to the class updates, you'll notice that the unlocks follow a theme. the primary weapons are usually replaced with something equally powerful, but useful in a different way. the backup pistols/secondary shotguns/secondary weapons get replaced with some sort of utility that does things other than directly hurt enemies.
The Anti-furry Gun.
The Anti-furry Gun.
Yes.
Erases all furry sprays in a 100 meter area. 30 second recharge.
Also bans furry users, dependant on user's spray, avatar, and Steam groups.
Critical hits also erase weaboo animu sprays.
Mini-crits stun all furry and weaboo players currently on the server.
After 3 dominations, the Anti-furry gun gains MEGA CRITS for 15 seconds.
MEGA CRITS kill all weaboo, furry, huntsman sniper, fan scout, and backburner pyro players on all servers. All of them.
Well, There was a Fire Retardant Suit for the Spy in the beta, and that never made it in-game so I doubt the PDQ will either.
Well, There was a Fire Retardant Suit for the Spy in the beta, and that never made it in-game so I doubt the PDQ will either.
I think they're actually still testing beta weapons.

Just because a weapon was leaked as being in beta doesn't mean it won't appear in-game. I'm sure all the current unlocks were in testing at some point, too.
some thing that will make him not rely on his sentry too much.

The engineer is a class that is meant to build teleporters, Dispensers, and sentries. Not gala-vaunt around shooting people with his shotgun.
I like the Blunderbuss idea, but I think it should be this isntead.
Primary fire with it shoots a crappy shotgun, only 3 bullets.
Secondary Fire shoots like 9 bullets but takes away 25 metal.
Then an engy can decide if the situation permits if he should conserve his metal or not. Build the sentry but be much weaker in combat? Or wait then attack?
Also, if you kill an enemy with 'right click' attack, it should refill your ammo up by like 60. Aspiring players will develop a strategy of 'low, low, HIGH damage' to maximize ammo yields.
I'd laugh if valve made some sort of trap that stunned spys when they tried to sap something. (perhaps some sort of shock wire to be placed on buildings?)
The engineer is a class that is meant to build teleporters, Dispensers, and sentrys. Not gala-bunt around shooting people with his shot gun.
Gala-vaunting is the word you're looking for.
I actually use the pistol more than the shotgun, as I hate to get into close or long range with an enemy, and the shotgun's far less useful at medium range.
Sometimes I'll use it to finish them off.
An engie that doesn't use his weapons is like a spy who doesn't use his revolver.
Unprepared.
Engies can be a surprisingly effective combat class if accompanied by a level 1 sentry.
It allows greater flexibility, and you can set it up again and again, in different spots to keep them guessing.
I've argued this point too many times to have to do it again, but if you're saying engies should only turtle...
I certainly hope you like cardboard.

GRABBIN' METAL!
Better grab everything I can, partner.
Engies need a high-damage, slow-reload shotgun for dispenser campers.
Engies need a high-damage, slow-reload shotgun for dispenser campers.
Engineers need a Tommy gun that fires lightning.
Called the Tesla Typewriter.

if you're a defensive engineer, then go ahead and sit on your sentry for the entire match.
but don't talk shit about offensive engineers. the engineers with balls who actually go out and fight, whilst building sentries and setting up teleports. you'd be surprised how many kills you can get with the pistol and shotgun combo, both of them are very powerful.
i just won #1 MVP in a match on badwater going balls-to-the wall as offensive engi. bumrushing with the offensive group, while setting up sentries and teleports along the way. it's so satisfying once you die to watch your level 1 sentry pick off all the confused enemies who try to regain their lost ground.
he should have an acoustic guitar to use as a melee weapon, like the one in the Meet the Engineer Video.
