BattleForge is a (partially free) real time strategy game, in which you fight epic battles against evil along with your friends. What makes BattleForge special is that you can assemble your army yourself: the units, buildings and spells in BattleForge are represented by collectible cards that you can trade with other players. In BattleForge, you build a deck of up to 20 cards from your virtual collection, which you then use for one battle in the game. This means that you can create your own, individual strategy for every single battle because the combination of cards is completely customisable. BattleForge is developed by EA Phenomic. The studio was founded by Volker Wertich, father of the classic "The Settlers" and the SpellForce series. Phenomic has been an EA studio since August 2006. The Gods have disappeared and the old sun has died, letting a vile twilight engulf the world of Nyn. In exchange for all treasures the mortals possessed, the evil giants agreed to forge a new sun and hurl it into the sky. But the deal was betrayed, the treasure stolen and now the mortals flee the wrath of the giants. Under the light of a new sun the mortals stumble into a world changed and twisted by an age of twilight. The long journey home has become a conquest of survival. You are a Skylord. Once a mortal hero, you long ago gained immortality and became a counsellor to the Gods. For generations you have lived with them in their majestic fortress floating in the skies over the magical world of Nyn. The fortress of the Gods was named the Forge of Creation for it grants the ability to bring the world's legends to life; use this ability to help guide the fates of the mortals on the surface below. Conjure up wonders of old, bring about storms and wildfires or wonderful blessings and mystical healings. At your word, legendary creatures spring to life, heroes, monstrosities, dragons and spirits are shaped of pure elemental power to do your bidding. Monumental structures and mighty fortresses of old rise from the earth wherever you desire. Until now the Gods held you back, centuries passed while the Forge slumbered. But now, the Gods have gone and you are needed. In this Age of Twilight, it is time for the Skylords to seize the power of the Forge. Some will use it to help the mortals of Nyn, others to do battle among themselves. The Forge of Creation has become the BattleForge. TWILIGHT FIRE Fire is full of rage and unguided strength. Senselessly it sows destruction while at heart it seeks purpose. All fear its power, but also cherish life-giving warmth that keeps away the cold of the eternal abyss. FROST One of the younger elemental powers. Frost was created by the winds and the mists to stop the invasion of Ancients who came to turn the world into one sinister, endless city. It covered the Ancients' city and stone constructs in a deep layer of ice then slowly ground them to dust. Since then it has become the power of protection, a stalwart, frozen shield that slowly but steadily achieves its goals. NATURE Nature chose to be. When earth had created the trees to shield itself from the rage of the wind and the bite of the rain, they were dissatisfied with being mere soldiers in the war of the elements. The trees rebelled against their grey master and created the power of Nature, to live in balance between the other elements. They drank the rains, cherished the winds, the light of the fire, and dug into the soil. They created the sprawling green forests and covered the lands with plants and animals. Acknowledging the balance of life, Nature never seeks to overpower, but rather prefers to achieve its ends by controlling and calming that which may become a threat. SHADOW Shadow is the oldest of the powers. Formed from the blood of the very First Victim, it is the taint of sin that soaked a universe of light. Its stain forever reminds us of that original vile deed. Shadow's essence is pain and terror, but it also feels the urge to break free and to endure. Those bound to Shadow are ready to suffer endless pain and give their lives to achieve their ends. They live between death and life, bearing risk to gain power. RENEGADE BANDITS Ragged gangs of bandits roam the wastelands with a lust for plunder. Bandits are remarkably versatile, with troops ranging from fast moving infantry units up to heavy artillery. If kept in line, these bandit forces will prove to be even fiercer than the Twilight. STONESKIN Searching for their giant master's treasure, the Stonekin elementals now have a strong presence in the wastelands. They are massive, heavily armored brutes and even while they lack fast moving units, each single one of them packs enough punch to take out a small army. LOST SOULS LOST SOULS The Lost Souls have waded the Wailing Lands for countless centuries trying to return to the Peaceful Light. With little hope to ever end their eternal suffering they have now turned to the Forge of Creation and are willing to follow the Skylords in battle. The powers of Frost and Shadow will allow you to call for their aid. Being caught in the in-between the Lost Souls have marvelous powers at their command no mortal could ever dream of. They make explicit use of their current state and know both the art of corruption and assistance. They are not to be underestimated because destroying the already dead might turn out to be a challenging endeavor. TWILIGHT Ever since they fell prey to the curse, the Twilight have been known for their insane desire to destroy and assault. But they have now been pestering the lands of Nyn long enough! Lacking any common culture or leader they have always gathered among the most powerful of their own kind. But since you, Skylords, have proven to be even more powerful than any of them, they have now chosen to follow you instead. To be summoned they require the powers of Fire and Nature. But since they formerly belonged to all kinds of affiliations they are now the most diverse faction at your command. In battle they make use of their transformative powers and also spread the Twilight Curse among other troops. Encounters with the Cursed ones might thus have unexpected consequences. Q: Boy, Turtle. This sure sounds epic. But exactly how 'free' is it? A: You can play the full game for free forever. Once you create a new profile, you get 32 different cards for free which you can combine to make your deck. There are only a few downsides. -You can't buy cards with BattleForge Points, this does not count for Gold. -You can't put cards up for sale in the Auction House. -You can't send cards to another player, you can recieve them though. The last two disappear once you've reached lvl 4 in PVE and lvl 10 in PVP. Q: PVE? PVP? This sounds like an MMO! I bet I'll have to pay mothly aswell! A: Nope! Like I said, it's completely free. There is no subscription fee. Q: A free game, huh? I bet it looks like shit, like those crappy free MMO's! A: Wrong again! The graphics of BattleForge are really good. The models are detailed, the animations are smooth, the maps look excellent, etc. The best thing is that this game runs great! If you can run Half-Life 2, you can run this. (see media section for screenshots and movies) Q: Okay, I've played it for a while and I like it. But I'm not sure wether I should buy the full version. A: Understandable, let me elaborate: The full version costs around €/$ 30 and is avalible on steam. What does this add? Well for starters all the downsides from the first question are removed immediatly (independant of your PVE and PVP level). Plus you get 3000 BattleForge Points for free. (one booster pack is 250 BFP's and contains 8 cards) Q: I have another question. Where can I ask it? A: You can either visit the BattleForge website, the BattleForge wiki, or ask me by leaving a comment. Very informative. Only serious problem I have with it is the "card pack" system. I'd rather play a tangible card game than a virtual one.
I got this game because it came with 5770 but I never got around to playing it.
The elements thing kinda reminds me of Magic: The Gathering. Looks pretty cool though, I think I might check it out
I gave it a try, and I really disliked the Card Game mixed with RTS elements. Oh well, hopefully it brings smiles to other faces.

It's mostly experimenting with different kinds of units/buildings/spells. Use the Forge to try out each card on the go, different combinations of units (like for example a couple of archers aided by a shaman (healer)) can be really effective. It's not a game for everyone, but I've enjoyed it much more than a lot of recent games. It's well worth the money in my opinion. On a side note: if you like the game but want to continue to play for free, I have some cards double or even three times, contact me and you can have them for free.
This game is really fucking fun when it comes to the large-scale PvE maps. I just have to download it again. :v:
----------UPDATE---------- -Added info about the two expansion packs (come with the game for free) Renegade and Lost Souls -Changed the logo (thank you Kai) -Changed the video
Been meaning to play this for...a while, downloading it now though.
Silverwind Lancers. I just have to download it again. :v:
Sure, I got that card 4 times I believe. Just PM me your profile name (or put it in this thread) and I'll add you to my friends list and send you the card.
Whoah, they released two expansion packs? Now I'm thinking about playing this again. Yeah, I played BF like crazy last spring/summer, it was pretty awesome. I love the card system, but the levels are sometimes way too hard. Thanks for reminding me of this, I might give it another go.
Sure, I got that card 4 times I believe. Just PM me your profile name (or put it in this thread) and I'll add you to my friends list and send you the card.
Mind me sending me one? I'm a level 6 PVP i think, my name is unjustice. Let me redownload the game again.
I saw this a month ago, looked good and forgot about. May check it out later.
Mind me sending me one? I'm a level 6 PVP i think, my name is unjustice. Let me redownload the game again.
No problem. I never use Silverwind Lancers anyway.
No problem. I never use Silverwind Lancers anyway.
Thanks man, i'm ingame right now!
Thanks man, i'm ingame right now!
Crap, bad timing, I gotta go attend to a birthday right now. I'll send you the card asap.
Aight.
Wow this died quickly, that sucks I guess, worked hard on the looks of the thread... Oh well, 'last-stand-bump'. The offer still stands, I got a ton of cards I don't really need.
I gotta download it again as said and not had time, but it's still a fun game! We can PvE sometime.
Downloading it now again, 1.3 mb/s. :v: I go by the name of FPLeonS ingame I believe. Add me on steam "network 11" What the hell automerge?
Im like lvl 6 in the game from a free account, the only reason i was playing it was because i had "Fire Dancer Promo" card that worths like 8000 BFP or something that i had in my deck since i was using the same email in the beta so i guess its a gift or whatever. And i never paid for the game i got a nice deck from cards i bought for gold but its not enough for pvp deck but still was fun PVEing altough the P2Pers with the giants super rare cards can PVE a whole lot better. The game is fun but after a while you can see that if you are a F2Per you will not win any pvp since you will have to buy BF points for booster packs (pack of new cards) means you will have to pay real money EVERYTIME you will need to get a new pack and in this game the only way to move up the ranking is to buy more cards. (trading dupe cards and such is the only reason you buy these) Trading huge amount of gold for a single very rare card just aint worth playing for and will get you nowhere in the game. This game is a money trap, the free to play is a catch to attract you in the game then squeeze all your money on it.

My current deck pretty much only consists of cards that have been gifted to me by people I added to my friends list and played several times with. Not to mention that PvE with people you've played with before is a lot more fun than with complete strangers. And sure, the game is more fun if you pay for it than if you don't, but think of it this way: I've spent at least 5 days playing the F2P version of the game, I could've played it even longer but I thought it would be well worth my money. So I've played 5 days at the cost of nothing, compare that to let's say a game like Mass Effect 2 (which you can easily finish in 5 days) which might've costed you 50 dollar/euro. No one is forcing you to pay, and if you're bored of it or can't continue because of bad cards or some other problems, just uninstall. It's free after all.

Thanks again for the cards, Turtle! Now I can prove people I'm not that bad. :v:
Thanks again for the cards, Turtle! Now I can prove people I'm not that bad. :v:
No problem, the ones I bought from the AH were incredibly cheap anyway.
Add a player list.
Sorry about DC'ing earlier, Turtle. I remembered my reason of quitting online gaming for awhile and it is because our router has gone FUBAR these last 2 months or so.
How to earn BF points 1. Find an popular card (Curse of oink in my time) 2.Be able to secure one card (talk, check fourms, buy BFpoints with coins 3.Sell card 4. Rebuy card at lower price. It's pretty basic although I was getting about 1-2 points a day through these sales.
Add a player list.
Working on it.
Sorry about DC'ing earlier, Turtle. Redownloaded this, if anyone has some spare cards that would be awesome, my ingame name is matreox I believe.
