let's keep the ball rolling shall we? [release] Bohemia Interactive makes the military simulations Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis, ArmA and ArmA 2, as well as their expansion packs. They also are behind the upcoming ArmA 3. All of those games strive for realism and accurate depictions of military combat. They feature open-ended singleplayer scenarios, co-op, and multiplayer. All the games come with a full arsenal of small arms, vehicles, and crew-served weapons for their respective factions. BI games are also notable for their extensive modding support, which supports total conversion mods and easy, modular, content expansion. [/release] [release]
But I want to play with Facepunch!
The Facepunch group mainly plays ArmA 2: OA at the moment, the Combined Ops version (both ArmA 2 and ArmA 2:OA). They play custom co-op missions/scenarios most of the time. the steam group through which events are scheduled can be found here http://steamcommunity.com/groups/FPARMA Also, the squad XML can be found here: http://rautapalli.com/random/arma/squad/ [/release] [release]
Media
[/release] PM me if you want changes to this OP!
Arma 2's (Regular Arma 2, mind you) public community, in my eyes at least, has gone down the drain. Since Arma 2: Free released, people who play to cause grief have arrived. Before the free version, it was near impossible to find someone griefing on a regular basis. Now, I tried it recently, and at night, public servers go to hell from all of the griefing that goes on. Sometimes there are guys that gun your planes down from the missile Humvee, and others the griefer is in a plane/attack chopper not letting anyone leave the spawnpoint.

Regardless, ArmA 2 is not a game I would play on public servers in anyways.
Easy solution to all your shitty community problems: Play with Facepunch. Dedicated server and games almost every weekend (but sometimes there can be a pause of a week or two).
ACE2 is pretty much a requirement, it just makes the game better.
ACE2 is pretty much a requirement, it just makes the game better.
ace can be annoying at times, though it is an excellent mod. It can screw up little minimods though that you've made yourself.
i don't even remember the last time i played on a pub server (except for t-life), arma is only fun with friends
i don't even remember the last time i played on a pub server (except for t-life), arma is only fun with friends
Correction, arma is only fun when you're in the editor :v:
Correction, arma is only fun when you're in the editor :v:
not fun for everyone else whose waiting for you to finish editing in the lobby :v:
Do people still play OFP1?
Do people still play OFP1?
Yes! I do time to time!
Yes! I do time to time!
when I feel like having a nostalgia trip to Everon, yeah
ACE2 is pretty much a requirement, it just makes the game better.
Blackouts I'd use it more if not for that.
Blackouts on ACE feel intense when on a zombie mission. I myself converted that whole chechnya / russia default map into a zombie map for namalsk crisis.
Blackouts on ACE feel intense when on a zombie mission. I myself converted that whole chechnya / russia default map into a zombie map for namalsk crisis.
I don't see how dying just because you ran a bit with a machine gun is intense.
I never died from sprinting because I took breaks during long sprints, sometimes the screens fades black a bit, it's pretty cool in my opinion.
I've logged over 200 hours, and I have never touched multiplayer I've been in the editor spamming units.
I've logged over 200 hours, and I have never touched multiplayer I've been in the editor spamming units.
be more social
be more social
Everytime i go in I crash
Everytime i go in I crash
patch your game/drivers, plus the SP in vanilla is pretty interesting/fun at times
Blackouts on ACE feel intense when on a zombie mission. Kinda feels like i'm playing an asthmatic guy with some terminal disease who dies when i do a soft turn in a jet.

I remember there was a g-resistance variable for pilots in CFS3 (yeah I know IL-2 is better, shush), why can't ACE have one?
I don't see how dying just because you ran a bit with a machine gun is intense.
Then don't carry 60kg of gear. Anything short of that becomes exponentially easier to carry. [editline]2nd February 2012[/editline] Over-G blackouts on the other hand are completely broken. Especially since if you die in a blackout it stays on after you respawn.

Realism.
Ramboing is always possible. You just will have less ammo for it with ACE.
OFP made me rethink the usefulness of armoured cars. They can destroy a section if they have room to manoeuvre.
Hmm, any ideas for a fun and fucked up 2-man coop mission?
Sniping or rambo/stealth missions. Objectives like stealing an attack copter and using it to attack an enemy base can be pretty fun.
Sniping or rambo/stealth missions. Objectives like stealing an attack copter and using it to attack an enemy base can be pretty fun.
this. Chopper/tank/sniper missions are best played in pairs. [editline]3rd February 2012[/editline]
OFP made me rethink the usefulness of armoured cars. They can destroy a section if they have room to manoeuvre.
you should play men of war a SdKfz 222 or Daimler Mk. 1 in your rear will FUCK YOU UP not to even mention Pumas and shit. If you were talking armored cars in a modern context, yeah I can see your point.
yeah, ACE makes it impossible to rambo shit up with a PKM with 3 boxes of MG ammo and still carry a RPG with 3 rockets, and a pistol with 8 magazines. Realism.
Uh, yeah. The only hard part would be finding space for 3 LMG box pouches. Just your ability to run long distances is impeded. Arma 3 will have a vest carry capacity system apparently (or was it speculation?) so we can only hope for a JA2-esque system. That way you'll be able to justify the carrying of all that shit, so long as the soldier you play as can lug it around.
