Hey, I just pulled out my Playstation 2 out of the old dust friendly storage unit, and I popped in Dark Cloud 2. (I had to go to the store to buy a memory card, FUCKIN $34.76 for a Playstation 2 8 MB memory card...)
Anyways, has anyone played it before? Or even the first one?
I'm about halfway through Balance Valley for people who've played it.

Loved Dark Cloud 1, was one of my favourite games. Sadly, I never got to finish it.
OMG i remember this game.
Unfortunately i played it back when i didn't finish games..
I should dig it up again.

You should complete it, the final battle with the Dark Genie was really fun. Luckily i had the most powerful sword in the game and managed to kill him quickly :smug:

If I still had my Ps2 and my game I would. Got it when it first come out and my ps2 broken down, can't remember what happened to the game. I got to the Dark Genie, and my sword was called Dark Cloud, which is cool. Can't remember why I didn't finish it now and then.

It doesn't take a genius to know that, (no offense) I live in an isolated town in Alaska where the only place to buy anything like a PS2 Memory card would be the O-O-Overpriced Radioshack. I know I could have gotten one off of Amazon or eBay, but I couldn't wait 2 weeks to save my game since I was already halfway through the game. If I died, I'd have to restart, so I just bought one today despite the massively expensive price. (I used to get them about six years ago for about $6.00)
My favorite thing about Dark Cloud 2 though is the Carpenterion. I'm never satisfied with any of the towns I make, because I always want to make them bigger and better. I spent at least 2 hours on Sindain so far, but Balance Valley you can't do much about aesthetic's because of the four platforms. Despite that, I still like making over elaborate yards with iron fences and gates and such.
I have the first one too, but since I just got a memory card today, I haven't played it yet because it would have erased all my progress. Anyways, my favorite part in the first one had to be the desert. I love the desert dungeons.
The first one was a lot better, I must say. I just didn't enjoy the second one as much.
Never finished Dark Cloud 2 because the game kept on freezing at the point where you go into the sewers and there's a cutscene of the past or some shit.
Tried it with [b]3[/b] fucking copies and it kept freezing, so I just exchanged it for Hack Vol. 1-2
Huh, I always heard that the second one is a lot better, but here's a whole thread full of people advocating the first one. #2 is the only one I have and I think it's pretty awesome. It's nice seeing an action-RPG that isn't a Diablo clone.
Dark Cloud 2 is amazing and one of my favorite Ps2 games. I think I'll dig it up and play it again.

I never got to the building part on the second game. Always got bored in that stupid forest.
Both Dark Clouds were amazing, just very different.
I rented it once, loved the steam punk, hated the dungeon crawling.
This isn't much of a thread. I was expecting content about the storyline and shit.
Besides, even if this was a thread, DC1 deserves a thread more than 2.

Well do I look like the kind of person who can start a major thread? I'm not a major thread starter, and besides it was just one of those thing's like "Oh, I'm playing Dark Cloud 2 in the first time in about 6 years... I wonder who's played it... Let's make a thread!"
Besides, doesn't matter if the original Dark Cloud deserves a thread. This isn't one, lower your expectations and gtfo, kthxbai.
I never really played 1 or 2. I did play 1 for about 10 minutes. Was fun. I think I'll borrow it from a friend.
You should, the beginning takes a little to get used to, but after about 5 levels it gets easier. The only problem is when you need to use your new characters and their weapons suck. For the first one at least.
I got this game when I got my PS2 when the PS2 came out with Final Fantasy 10 and Dark Cloud, I love Dark Cloud because of it's building style and it's like and dislike. It takes a while for me to try to make a good looking city to 100% so everyone is happy. Dark Cloud 2 is a bit better, as you have more difficulties and a different storyline. I wish I've play that game once more, better yet it be nice if they made a Dark Cloud 3.
Is this the game where at the start your town gets fucked over and you have to find parts of it in some caves and rebuild it in such a way which makes everybody happy?

I got mine around the same time, but I only played Final Fantasy 10 because it was so hard at the time for me, but fun. (I was like 11 or 12 or something, so games back then took ages for my young mind) After that, I played Dark Cloud, and then after I beat that I got the Ratchet and Clank series. (Hella fun :D)
I fucking loved both dark clouds. They had rumors of releasing a 3rd one but nothing has been said about it anymore :(.
Must be a Japan only thing, good thing I'm moving there with my brother and a few friends. :uhaul:

Level 5 is currently working on White Knight Chronicles where I heard some of the Dark Cloud characters might appear.
Well I hope Max and Monica don't show up as kids if they're planning on it... That would be pretty sick if you could bring in some of the major theme characters though like Gaspard, or some of the ally's from the first game if anyone.
I fucking loved this game, Never got to finish it cause It was at my cousin's house
