Hey, if this isn't the right place to post it just move it over to where it belongs.
I've got all the beta files and just recently got the WC maps, however I have no clue how to use them. I've understood that I need to "compile" them and then I guess I'm supposed to put then in /hl2/maps (or am I? Right now all the maps are in a million different folders named after the people working on them etc, am I supposed to cut them out and put them all in one place?). However I really don't know how to do this.
I read on the Overwiki (or whatever that place is called) that you can do this by using the "Create Mod" function and I did try creating a mod, but I don't get how I'm supposed to make the SDK (?) compile the maps in /mapsscr or whatever the plan is.
Can someone give me a detailed instruction of how to compile map and possibly where I'm supposed to put them?
Also I've heard discussing Beta files is no longer forbidden here, especially since I'm not linking to anything or requesting any files.
If you have the beta files you use the beta worldcraft to compile them and run them in the beta. Or you open the vmf in hammer and compile it?

don't even try. it's possible but it's pointless and you'll have way too many errors. some maps have really nice brushwork but a lot of it is shit.
Unless you have the HL2 beta textures and models as I do, it will look like shit. Not to mention most have beta skyboxes and fucked up lighting.
Well I do have the beta textures and models (since I have both the russian and anon leaks), I guess?
Also Bonzai: I'm no fucking mod creator or whatever, how am I supposed how to know what compile even means?
How do I use wc? All configs are empty. I saw a torrent of the files already compiled but there are no seeds, unfortunately.

Well whatever. I found a tutorial how to configure Worldcraft and I've played through that. Lots of awesome WC maps, I'll probably play through all of them. A few hundred so far.

Because copying and compiling files is common knowledge for all humans?
