I have to deal with a mac (ugh) and I can't seem to find a good converter. What's the best that is, hopefully, free. Sorry probably wrong section but my friend wants garrysmod which all has to be through steam.
huh? What do you want to convert?
More information needed...
I think he wants something like Bootcamp.
Install Linux, problem solved. http://slackware.com/
:ughh:
... You can't convert something from Mac to XP, nor can you do it vice versa, you want Bootcamp or better yet no Mac at all
You can sell it and buy a PC. Hell at Apple's prices you could buy 2 PC's.
Just partition your harddrive and install windows on the second partition. Or, yeah, bootcamp.
http://www.gentoo.org/ use it
that's what you get for buying a mac.
Sell your Mac. Build your own computer and use a distro of Linux as your OS.

One question: Why do you have a Mac if you want to play PC games?

I'm sorry I really just posted this to make him satisfied that I tried. It was exe to whatever mac uses for installations. I don't know anything about mac so sorry. I could try crossover. I don't own a mac. That is the one thing I can't be blamed for. He's the one that bought the macbook not me.
Crossover

Stuff like Wine and Crossover don't work that good, for what I used them that is.
You can't convert a windows program to one that will run on a mac without the source code. Even then, most games are running on DirectX, a graphics API that only runs on windows. If you want to run windows programs on a mac, simply buy a copy of XP (you can find one fairly cheap and legal on most PC software sites) and run Boot Camp, a program which will install windows on a separate partition (think a section of the HDD) and allow you to boot into either windows or OS X. Finally, to all those recommending he installs Linux, he'll have no more luck running his windows apps and games on Linux than he will with running them on OS X. Thread Over

I don't like mac. you can install Linux Ubuntu instead.
http://darwine.sourceforge.net/ merry christmas... wine for mac os... the best i can do for free... if you manage to set it up properly and then install .net and directx and other game depencies you should be able to run 80% of the games or apps your windows com can run. what you gotta know is that people mostly get a mac for proffesional reasons. mostly used for audio and video enhancing. it's MADE FOR MULTIMEDIA down to the core. and when you get a mac you spend another 10k to get apps for it and then you get rich. installing any linux would be changing a pot for a pan since they are all unix systems and basically operate the same, so that would waste your time... alot. do a darwine or bootcamp. just as a note Darwine is like Crossover just free. just google crossover and read about it and don't get it it's ripoff, it can be done with darwine alone. /wall of text 2
Crossover Games work good, there were problems with starforce, tho.
