• System Shock 2 Windowmode and Vista Fix?

Well, friend and me wanted to play System Shock 2, but we got some problems now: 1. Well, I have a widescreen monitor and yeah, 1024x768 on a 1440x900 monitor doesn't looks good, so I searched google for a solution, but didn't found any to turn the game into window mode. Is there one? 2. Friend doesn't even gets the game to run on Vista. Any fix or something for that? We already tried the one with the cam.cfg and a fixed exe of the game, but didn't worked as well. Any help appreciated. [editline]07:20PM[/editline] Why you naggars not helping me nor responding?
you racist!
Hello guyws, please help kthanksbye.
You're going to have to pry open sshock2.cfg in the "Game" folder to get it into windowed mode. Beware that often changes made here just make problems worse, but you can always undo them, so don't be too afraid. The first thing you want to try is editing "fullscreen = 1" to "fullscreen = 0". Then give it a try. If that doesn't work, then you're in for a real fun time as you play with the other options in that cfg file. Don't forget to save any changes you make before you try loading the game. Good luck to you :p
Hope this helps.
im going to test that
If the Vista computer is multicore, you need to set the affinity to only one in order for it to work. I hope that will help, because I was having the same problem yesterday and that's how I fixed it.

This worked for me and now I can finally play SS2, one of the best horror FPS games ever! :v:
I tried so many fucking things to get SS2 to work, and it just wouldn't work. Very sad day. :(
I got SS2 working on Vista 64-bit with a quadcore, running at 1680x1050. I don't remember how I did it, but it's possible.

Well I got it into window mode now with D3DWindower, also works on multiplayer, but seems to crash if more than 2 people.

And if that doesn't work you can always use this fix here. http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121449
One thing that helped me is simply moving it from C:\Programs\System Shock 2 where I had it to C:\System Shock 2 (as the installer suggests). For some reason the game has a problem with too long paths. And of course set core usage to 1 when you have a multicore, just like with the Thief games. I finished the game yesterday, so good.
