I have had this problem for a few weeks and now it's fucking annoying. Hl2.exe refuses to start but it goes in like a minimized thing so it's still running even though it's not showing. Then, sometimes when Valve feels good, the game starts and gets stuck on the loading screen (Specifically Garrry's Mod) seems to run into this.
After opening and killing hl2.exe Garry's mod, Tf2 and HL2 have started and loaded all the way to the menu 4 times.
I have looked up countless times on google and no one seems to help much since most post are from around 2005, long before my Pc specs were made.
Do anyone have ideas to what might cause the problem?

Already tried it a few times. Doesn't seem to effect that much

Tried that too. Nothing helped there. and Same for defrag
go to your steam folder and delete all the folders, except the steamapps
if it still doesn't work, try to delete the half-life2 folder and the others source game folders inside steam/steamapps/youraccount/
still no use...
Re-Install Steam?
I can remember deleting some multiplayer ob binaries.gcf helped for this in the past. so try that.

Specify the folder location? I can't seem to find it and I can't search in folders for some odd reasons...
steamapps\multiplayer ob binaries.gcf
Bumping this since I still have the problem. The last post thing didn't work either.
Any new ideas?
Reinstall windows. That's what i had to do a few years back.
Try deleting the base source gcfs?
Now Half Life 2 starts, but GMOD still stops on the loading screen...
