Vindictus (Mabinogi Heroes), Blade and Soul, Sun Online, etc. Do you guys see this new sub-genre opening up? I think it's promising. I hope some American companies start developing games like these soon, so we can have awesome games like Mabinogi Heroes in Engish.
combat mmo's have been out for a while now ie. lunia.
You forgot Global Agenda. Best (alive) MMOTPS out there.
You forgot Global Agenda. Best (alive) MMOTPS out there.
Global Agenda isn't really an MMO.
Global Agenda isn't really an MMO.
Your mom is not an MMO.
You forgot Global Agenda. Best (alive) MMOTPS out there.
Global Agenda is as much as an MMO as Guild Wars I.E not an MMO at all
Global Agenda is as much as an MMO as Guild Wars I.E not an MMO at all
I guess I'll just keep my opinions for myself, i had enough bans already.
I have a hard time seeing games like these go into the mainstream because they are so reliant on a good connection to actually pull off the combat I would really want them to though.
I have a hard time seeing games like these go into the mainstream because they are so reliant on a good connection to actually pull off the combat I would really want them to though.
Because all online games aren't dependent on a good connection. :smug:
Because all online games aren't dependent on a good connection. :smug:
Most mmos are not actually.
Most mmos are not actually.
Yeah they are, because if you lag, then you miss a couple of spells or a couple of buttons and BAM, yer screwed by monsters :C
You can still easily play wow with well over 300 MS ping. Its just harder.
Tabula Rasa was a great combat MMO but for some reason, I am not sure why, they completely closed down the game. Just gave up on it, after it had already been released. Go check it out it was pretty fun for the like week i got to play.

Depends what you mean by a combat MMO. APB and stuff like that are labeled as MMOs but I feel that they are more or less just shooting games with a social aspect.
I want TERA already.
Your mom is not an MMO.
Disagree
Your mom is not an MMO.
I disagree, I think his mom IS an MMO. She's certainly massively multiplayer, and on Tuesday nights she's online. On topic, I love these new MMOs. Vindictus is a lot of fun.
I want TERA already.
Agreed. TERA looks fucking awesome. @OP - Vindictus Early Access Closed Beta was in English (I got in) and the Open beta coming out on wednesday will be as well. It's a great game but it can get slightly repedative and they need to release the rest of the classes.
Don't think this genre will succeed
Don't think this genre will succeed
You are not wanted here.
People need to be more optimistic.
Tabula Rasa was fun as hell. I was sad when they closed it down. Hellgate: London's multiplayer aspect was pretty fun. Not really an MMO though... Global Agenda is an MMO now actually. If I recall they released Sandstorm (or are going to) which adds free roaming open worlds and shit.
Global Agenda is an MMO now actually. If you're looking for FPS, Battleground Europe. If you're looking for Third Person. Face of Mankind..

Realm of the Mad God could count as one,but it's 2d and top-down,so not really.
How does being 2d and top down disqualify an MMO?
A good MMOFPS was Planetside. I agree though, I hope they bring out so more action-packed games where you are more involved in the fights then just sitting back and mashing macros/binds.
