http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/63093
Had everything gone according to plan, 3D Realms' long-coming (and now legally-troubled) shooter Duke Nukem Forever was meant to have gone gold--meaning it would have been complete and off to manufacturing--on April Fools' Day 2010. "By the 3DR/TTWO development schedule, April 1st, 2010 was supposed to be the day Duke Nukem Forever went gold," Shacknews alum and former DNF producer Jason Bergman revealed via Twitter. "Totally intentional. It was going to be hilarious." "Not an April Fool's gag," he affirmed in our comments. Bergman, a trustworthy fellow, served as producer on the game while working at Take-Two subsidiary 2K Games. But as hardcore fans are quite aware, things didn't go according to plan. Developer 3D Realms laid off its internal development staff in May 2009, leading to a messy legal feud with publisher Take-Two over the game's incomplete state. Since then, 3D Realms has pledged that development on DNF is continuing somewhere, as well as teased that "there are numerous other Duke games in various stages of development."
That would have been hilarious, seeing all the people thinking it was a joke and then it actually comes out.
boo hoo duke nukem wasn't released
Even if Duke Nukem Forever was released, it probably wouldn't even be that great.
Even if Duke Nukem Forever was released, it probably wouldn't even be that great.
it would have been the best fucking game ever. did you read the game documents explaining the plot and game mechanics? http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/46980/Duke-Nukem-Forever-Complete-Plot-Revealed-Redux Monster trucks, lap dances, underwater leech boss battle, etc...
Hah, i pitty the fans that still hope it will be released.
Why exactly will it never be released? Never really followed this
Because the developers spend all their time playing WoW instead of doing something.
But seriously? Are there some legal things that got in the way to prevent them from making it or what?
Hah, i pitty the fans that still hope it will be released.
i'll never give up on this game

Except lap dances.
But seriously? Are there some legal things that got in the way to prevent them from making it or what?
What happened last year was due to a disagreement with funding between 3D Realms and their publisher (Take Two I believe).
Balls of steel.
Sounds like a bunch of stupid gimmicks brought into one game. Except lap dances.
Have you never played Duke Nukem before?
Hah, i pitty the fans that still hope it will be released.
I pity the fans that still hope Episode 3 will be released.
I pity the fans that still hope Episode 3 will be released.
Episode 3 will be out next year.
But seriously? Are there some legal things that got in the way to prevent them from making it or what?
The reason why it took over ten years was because they had too much time. They didn't have a deadline, so they were constantly improving shit until their funding ran out. Something like that
The reason why it took over ten years was because they had too much time. They didn't have a deadline, so they were constantly improving shit until their funding ran out. Something like that
They wanted it to be the best game ever so much that they kept switching to the newest engine and what they had was never good enough for their ridiculous expectations.
Episode 3 will be out next year.
That's what you think.
