Since after atleast a year files could become corrupt if you be putting in addons and what not.
Only times I've had to reinstall is if I put in a new Hard drive and wanted it on that. I don't know what you mean, files don't just go corrupt like they have an expiration date. IF you put so much shit into Steam that it fucks up that's a little odd.
I've only reinstalled steam twice and one was for format and the other was for new computer.
I only re-install if I have some major problems with my PC like needing to reformat, or my Steam games won't work unless I re-install.
Zero. :eng101:
I only reinstalled once, after my brother formatted my PC without asking. :argh:
I never reinstall it. O.o
Never reinstalled steam.
I reformat a lot, so maybe 4 times.... Going to be 5 when Windows 7 comes out.
Reinstalled a lot of times. But I always have a backup of steamapps and SourceMods :D
Several times, fuck.
4 times Nothing worked until I reinstalled. Any non-source game worked fine.
I did it once to fix my games not working.
Zero times.
sometimes when my games are fucking up or when I got too many custom maps and downloads for plugins in a lot of my games ill just reinstall it and my games run smooth for a few weeks.
two to three times I think, two it gotta be. Once on the last pc because gmod fucked up and then I had install it on this new beastly rig
None. [editline]10:36PM[/editline] at least for me
This one time all Source games broke and I tried fucking everything, forum posting, contacting Support, fucking up shit, reinstalling Steam, nothing worked. In the end I had to reinstall Windows. Laaame. That was the only time, cept when I got a new comp of course.
It's on a separate partition for me so I haven't reinstalled in forever.
about 2 times
1 for computer, which is still i comp I love today.
I've had to reinstall twice, because I had a virus break out once, and then a really crappy program go rogue and try to reinstall itself every 5 seconds. Both times, thankfully, everything was saved to my Steam file, and just had to be downloaded again.
1 time, only because I was too dumb to delete clientregistry.blob
3 times. -Because of reformat. -Because of hard drive death / new hard drive. -Because of virus.
Reinstalled it countless times. I installed it initially, then wanted a second copy of Steam on my portable hard drive, so I uninstalled Steam from my computer and reinstalled directly to the drive. I know what you're thinking: "But IceCKryss, you can just copy the files directly and it will work!" Not true. Directly installing it seems to allow Steam to run on computers locked down with restriction software as well as regular computers. I then edited the registry to allow re-installation back onto my computer, and re-installed it. Eventually I formatted the hard drive because I felt it was too corrupt and I wanted to place the horrible PortableApps.com software on it. I then tried to rename my computer's Steam folder to allow re-installation, but something fucked up and the new file was empty, with the old one being corrupt. I had to install it again after that. This and similar results have happened to me many times over the course of the past two years.
Twice if remember correctly.
Twice for a new computer and once for a glitch
Every time I boot up my pc.
4 times 2 for bugger ups, 1 for a new computer and the last for a computer abroad.
I reformatted twice, reinstalled steam twice, reinstalled gmod once :clint:
