Dirt and Death: The Great War is about the First World War, a somewhat fictitious one. The war is dragging on as the Central Powers are now mounting a desperate offensive to push back into France. With the use of new found manpower due to the suppression of the uprising, Germany strikes deep and is now close to Paris. With that in mind, if Paris should fall it would mean certain defeat for the Allies.
The game features multiplayer and solo play, but arguably the best of the game is found in the multiplayer. Both sides have a officer that can make or break them, of course should a officer prove to be of poor discipline there will be the option to elect a new officer. The officer's role is vital, as they order in new weapons, vehicles, fortifications and such. But of course an officer is nothing without his men as they are valuable beyond that of any machine. To ensure the game remains constant in pace, computers will also take the place of humans, when they are not present. A feature I am personally quite found of is body-snatching. What it is; You can take control of other friendly soldiers provided they are controlled by a machine, which is also quite handy as it allows players to leap right back into the action without delay from respawn. However manpower IS an actual resource however, and should not be taken lightly.
Completing orders has it's benefits, like following a flank or movement order gives a slight speed boost, so people should really know better then to just run around shooting. While we're on the topic of firearms, I will say this now, there is quite a bit. A reason I wanted to have the storyline of the game take place in a elongated war was because I wanted to introduce Submachineguns more freely. This includes the Thompson 1921 and the MP-18.

I'm expecting more BARs and Crazy Multi-Turret/sponson tanks too.

Go on? :) But of course there will be BARs.

Well, you'd expect the war to evolve into more dynamic war with tanks, etc.
tank development would change accordingly, however the origial turret/sponson designs would remain
(for multi-turret tanks, see the T-28/T-35 and the M1/M2 tanks)

Perhaps... I don't want this becoming World of Tanks though...

world of tanks is almost exclusively single-turret designs, where the fuck are you getting that from?
That's the stupidest shit ever, every time someone mentions realistic(ish) tank combat in a game "zomgz don't do that it'll be like world of tanks"
world of tanks isn't even *that* realistic.
Such a shit argument

I wasn't trying to argue.
not even 10 posts in and already someone is bitching about something.
hahaha
still, that comment was hella stupid
Well I've got a few goals before I can consider it in alpha. There is an official website but a fair warning it is nothing too terribly fancy. www.ddgreatwar.webs.com
That soldier looks like a true WW1 soldier. Burnt face and everything.

I think he looks pretty good. Besides revisions can always be done later.
that website burns my eyes.
Takes me back to the early 2000s
Also, what engine are you running on?

This is Facepunch, we might actually have broken a record for how long it took.

If this is late in the war he wouldn't be wearing a pickelhaube.

That's a pretty basic piece of knowledge, please do some in-depth research before touching upon a historical (hypothetical elements or not) setting.
That is the ugliest damn face i have seen in a long time.
His face makes me wonder if they smoked weed with their pipes during WWI?

The OP clearly says it's alternate history.

Just saying "alternate history" doesn't mean you can make radical changes without telling why. That's where most authors fail in writing AH stories.
Also, that model is damn ugly. I know you tried, but maybe finding someone else isn't such a bad idea.
