• Nintendo Wii - is it worth buying?

Apologies if this is in the wrong section (i.e. should it be, then can a mod move it?). I seen a fantastic offer for a Nintendo Wii locally but unsure of whether to purchase it. I already have an Xbox 360 with 32 games, and was wondering if the Wii could incite a purchase of just as many. A few games of interest on the console at present include: Metroid Prime 3, Metroid Other M, Zelda Twilight Princess, Red Steel, and that's about it really. My flavor of gaming includes RPGs, RTS/turn-based strategy and action/adventure. Thanks!
It's a nice console with nice games, so yeah. They'll release the Wii-U soon though.
Ehhh I own a Wii and to be honest I wish it was something else. If you've got wifi, maybe, but without it I'd vote definitely not. I don't have wifi so I never touch the thing, especially because I have a perfectly good gaming computer.
It's like 100$, buy one. They can also be softmodded now very easily. There are very many games worth getting for the Wii, it's just how willing you are to play so many video games really. Same for any console.
Makes a fantastic dust collector, everyone I know uses theirs as one.
Don't buy Other M. No, seriously don't buy Other M.
Don't buy Other M. No, seriously don't buy Other M.
Then what would be the "must-have" titles for it?
Super Smash Bros Brawl, all the Mario games and all the RPGs. Everyone knows that.
Metroid Prime 3 (Or preferably Trilogy, if you can find it), Donkey Kong Country Returns, Sonic Colours, Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Super Mario Galaxy (1 or 2, either one, doesn't really matter), Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Red Steel 2 (needs motion plus though) That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but out of those I'd really only call Donkey Kong, Metroid Prime and Skyward Sword the absolute essential Wii games, though the others are games that I still highly recommend you experience.
I've gotten a couple thousand hours of SSBB out of it. That's about it, though. It's worth it just to play SSBB.
Then what would be the "must-have" titles for it?
It's not a must-have, but MySims is pretty fun. The building mode is really good l.
For the 60 euros I got it for, it was worth it. Wouldn't have paid any more for it.
I don't think I've played mine for more than half an hour at a time in over a year now. It's fun enough fi you have friends over and you just want a fun mini-game kinda as a novelty experience, but for real games it's lacking. That said, I'll be getting Zelda sometime soon.
Monster Hunter Tri, nuff said
Zelda: SS
Also the Virtual Console games. If it wasn't for the Wii I probably would never have finished Majora's Mask.
If you loved any of the core Mario platformers, Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a must play. Other than that the system doesn't have much purpose beyond novelty and various mediocre time wasters.
Worth it just for the Mario Galaxy games. I'd recommend Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn seeing as you like RPGs and strategy games. You might want to take a look here, see if anything tickles your fancy. http://vsrecommendedgames.wikia.com/wiki/Wii
If you want to play on a console that only supports 480p, has a shitty market and some pretty shitty games. Then go ahead and blow 200$. [editline]1st March 2012[/editline] The only good games are: Monster hunter Tri The entire zelda series.
Well, I'd wait for the Wii U, but the Wii can be really fun with friends.
if you don't care at all about graphics. if you do just a little, nope. [editline]1st March 2012[/editline] you also need to enjoy nintendo games, because they're pretty much the only good ones.
Monster Hunter Tri. This is the game that justified having a Wii, for me.

Monster Hunter Tri!
No More Heroes 1 and 2
http://www.quickmeme.com/meme/36d409/
I can agree with this wholeheartedly, the only Wii game I have interest in being Xenoblade. I have yet to try that Smash Bros game though, supposedly fun with friends.
Monster Hunter Tri!
Worth it just for this game.
http://wiibrew.org/wiki/LetterBomb Although the homebrew community has been pretty slow lately, using emulators with the classic controller isn't a bad idea. Also, Gamecube backwards compatibility if it matters to you (just be careful with the larger memory cards)
I already own a Wii, but this thread makes me want to try Monster Hunter Tri.
Heres what you should do, Get a good computer. Buy some good Wii games and get a controller, then download a wii emulator and play your games on the PC! HD quality on PC with emulation but no HD on Wii.
