I've gotten so many of these things before, and never believed them, but I'm not sure this time. A friend set me the link, and I immediately assumed he had his account stolen, until he started acting like he usually did.
Anyway, I tried to look up info via google, but couldn't find anything, other than THIS on the steampowered site. It got me to thinking, this has happened before, why wouldn't it again?
Anyway, here's what was sent to me:
****: hey dude want some free games, steams givin em out
****: Portal is free for all NVIDIA users - Check it out here:
Half-Life 2: Episode 1,2, and 3 is free for all ATI users- Check it out here:
Or you can select up to 3 games of your choice for free - Check it out here:
And a few minutes ago, he sent it to me again... and then said something about fkn0wned.com , which made me really suspicious. HALP?
Dont click shit like that.
It's a phishing scheme to steal accounts.
If you put your shit into the links, CHANGE YOUR FUCKING PASSWORD RIGHT FUCKING NOW.
I think the only games that were free for certain card members were the cheap ones like HL2DM and Lost Coast. Also, both of those aren't anywhere near the domains that Steam uses. A .tk and .eu.pn? No, they're phishing sites.
I wouldn't type in my passwords on them, because the real offers does not transfer you to the steam website, which in this case probably is a phising site.
NO NO NO NO NO no!
Change your password, quick.
These are the only offers that are legit:
ATI - http://steampowered.com/ati_offer1a/
Nvidia - http://www.steampowered.com/nvidia/
Half-Life 2: Episode 1,2, and 3
Hahah
It's .tk
Come the fuck on.
I saw that episode 3 thing and I'm like Yeah, it hasn't even been out... has it even been confirmed that they're MAKING an episode three?
Good thing I didn't even go to the site. Changing password just in case.
EDIT: And I've been told in the past that .tk is a phishing site, it just came back to me..
If it asks for your passwrod, they're scams, also .tk websites offering "free" Steam stuff are always scams.
Get out of there, it's gonna blow!!
Anyone who puts in their details into sites like that deserves to be shot.
"Half-Life 2: Episode 1,2, and 3"
Holy shit :downs:
Some guy sent me a website link saying it would give me free games, and we got into a big fight because I was really pissed about how he was a good friend, yet he'd sent me this phishing site, and he really tried to convince me, even though I was saying "Okay I know it's a scam website, so you may as well give up, there's no way I'm going on the site" It ended up with us swearing in caps a lot over steam chat.
A few days later he joined me in playing Killing floor and we talked and had fun like it had never happened... wierd.
Seriously, if you can't identify a phishing scam this blatant you deserve to have your account stolen. Neither Nvidia nor VALVe/ Steam would use a .tk site.
Security certificates, people
This seems legit.
Don't be a pussy. Go for it.
1. NEVER NEVER FUCKING EVER TRUST A .TK ADRESS THAT SAYS THEY CAN GIVE YOU FREE GAMES.
2. Only put your password into the official steam website (http://store.steampowered.com/)
3. If you have a ati or nvidia (ofc you do) then just google it and the steam offer will come up.
4. Not all .tk adresses are scams, Only the ones who ask for passwords and stuff. Example of a safe .tk adress:
http://www.e-method.tk/ (I should know it's safe because it's mine)
Hope i helped.

Oh fuck off. Not everyone knows about computers and internet as much as most of us here on facepunch do.
There is a difference between ignorance/naivete and stupidity.
You believe that? Really? Are you serious? .TK doesn't sound at least a little bit suspicious to you?
Wow, that's all I have to say. Wow.
yes they ar legit .tk means its an oficial valve site
This shit is legit.

Sweet, I just got HL:2 Deathmatch.
Thanks y'all!
Wow, you really didn't know about the HL2: DM offer? That's really old.
