Recently a friend gifted me bloody good time and Call of duty black ops, I heard a sound coming from my pc a while ago, I woke up to see what it was, then steam tells me there has been a problem with the payment over black ops and bloody good time and that i should delete it's content, after I uninstall the stuff I still can't sign in I'm worried :frown: I really don't want my account disabled over two bad games
Your friend didn't pay/canceled payment on the gifts, causing fraud. [editline]9th November 2010[/editline] https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5406-WFZC-5519
So, that means I'm fucked?...
shoot em an email or something.
This is bloody stupid
Kill the friend.
irunner, I'm going to miss you on steam.
Those gifts are probably fraudulent, both of which you redeemed. Emailing support is your best bet.
pretty sure there's nothing you can do
suffered the same fate bros if you need to contact me I'll be updating my steam link
I, too, have suffered a disabled account, except it was with Poker night and Oblivion. Hopefully you and everyone else who've been wrongfully disabled get your accounts back.
It's pretty bullshit how you can get anyones account disabled by gifting a game to them and they redeem it. It should be the person who gifted it; he's the one who paid for it afterall. There's nothing the gifted CAN do.
I just sent a steam support ticket, hopefully they'll reply soon :smithicide:
Same thing happened to me, three times :saddowns:
I hate this. Everytime I buy something on Steam I am scared of payment getting fucked over by some stupid reason and my shitty luck. They should just get rid of the game if payment failed.
I just sent a steam support ticket, hopefully they'll reply soon :smithicide:
have fun waiting 1-2 days for a reply then waiting over the weekend
I should totally spend a few hundred dollars doing nothing but gifting random people poker night, canceling it, and getting them all disabled. :hurr:
The same thing happened to me too. I started my pc up today and I couldn't login and got this message saying: "your steam account has been disabled". I also was gifted a few games from my friend.
have fun waiting 1-2 days for a reply then waiting over the weekend
I bet I will, since I'm very sick right now and all I can do is browse facepunch

I am surprised to see so many problems that cause the disabling of a Steam account, especially when it's someone else's fault. I feel pretty lucky to never have a single problem for 2 years. Hope you get your account back, iRunner.
Why do they disable the account? Why cant they just remove the game?
Why do they disable the account? Why cant they just remove the game?
Scammers can use stolen credit cards and buy games for another account, which they probably own. For security reasons, Steam disables all of them until the owner of the account with the gifts can verify that he or she is indeed the legitimate owner, not an alt account of the scammer.
Your friend gifted it to you, with a stolen credit card, the payment was fraudulent and so you too are in trouble with it. I don't think you can be in legal problems, but your account will most likely be disabled for "fraudulent activity".
Noooooo dont go irunner :c
Fuck sake this is retarded.
I disliked valve's auto disabling account thing from the get go.
This is stupid. But I am sure that Valve will get your account back for you. After all, you didn't do anything wrong.
have fun waiting 1-2 days for a reply then waiting over the weekend
Lucky for me, last time I got hacked and contacted steam support, they responded the following day
