My friend is going out to buy a PSP Go soon, and is going to sell me his PSP 3000 so we can play some games together on them. But something we wanted to clear up first is whether or not you can play a game that's from the PSP store on the PSP Go, but is a UMD disc on the PSP 3000 together.
To explain better:
He'll be buying Monster Hunter Freedom Unite from the PSN store on the PSP Go and we're wondering if when I play it on disc on a PSP 3000 we can connect and play together.

Yes, it will work just fine, there is no difference between the PSN version and the UMD, except the PSN one loads faster because it goes off the memory card.
Buying a PSP go when he already has a 3000?
Sell the 3000 and buy an old fat one, and crack it (extremely easy).
