All right, so I decided today to start up HL2:EP1 several months after Valve ported all the Source games to the EP2 engine. After waiting several minutes for all the sound caches to process, I finally got to the title screen. One thing I noticed on the title screen was that the captions were showing up, but I couldn't hear Dr. Kleiner. All the other ambient sounds were playing, but Kleiner's voice was not. I decided to take a further look by loading the first map in Undue Alarm. During the cinematic intro, there were no ambient sounds and no voices except for Dr. Breen's statement to Gordon from Half-Life 2, and the G-Man's footsteps just when he was confronted by the Vortigaunts. After the cutscene ended, all the sounds were playing (Ambience, DOG's sounds, rubble moving, etc.), but I couldn't hear Alyx. Just like with Kleiner, the captions were on the screen but no voice could be heard. I closed my game and verified the game cache, started it up again and got the same result. I tried it again after deleting and re-installing the game, and still no luck. I'm wondering if extracting the sounds and scripts directly with GCFScape will work, but I'd like some user insight first on what I should do. For those of you who are wondering, my sound settings in Episode One are the exact same as my other games, and EP1 is the only game that I'm having this problem with.
TL;DR version
The voices in HL2:EP1 aren't working, and I've tried nearly everything. Please help?
Delete local content and redownload.

That's what I meant by "Deleting and re-installing the game".
Is there anything in your launch options?

Just checked a second ago, there's nothing in launch options.
All right, so I tried extracting every file from sound/vo and sound/npc into the HL2:EP1 directory with GCFScape and it still didn't work. I'm at a complete loss at what to do now.
Is anything getting printed to the console?

Gonna check that in a little while, I'll edit this post with the results when I get the chance.
EDIT: Nothing unusual in the Console. :gonk:
I might try messing with a few scripts and see what happens.
EDIT 2: Holy shit, I fixed it! All I had to do was delete my scripts folder and verify the game cache. :v:
