The original sounds don't scare me, but backwards they actually kind of freak me out, I'm sure if they were played both forward and backwards in game it would sound a little more dramatic.
Perhaps, just guessing from the soudns that they're cryptic in some sort of way.
Only theory is that our brain can read it backwards but because we have taught ourselves to read it the way originally, I guess, that's just it, we read it forward and makes anything else in reverse harder to comprehend.
