Far cry 2 won't play OR uninstall

I have the cd version of far cry 2.
The last patch installed automatically with the far cry 2 launcher.
Now the game won't run at all... it just stops when loading.

I tried to uninstall... but the uninstall program launches the game half way through.

Is there any way to uninstall/delete it and get a "refund" for the activation limit since it has drm/securom and limits to I think 5 installs.

I can tell you how to uninstall it / get rid of it but I don't know what to tell you about the refund for the activation limit.

To remove it do this:
Click Start > Run > Type in regedit
Go to KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ and then find Far cry 2 and delete it

I just did this a few minutes ago for a program I couldn't uninstall so I know it works

Your number of installs doesn't go down. It's the number of computers your CD key is limited to be activated on.

Ubisoft are pretty friendly about it though, send them a picture of your game box and manual with CD key and they'll reset your limit.

I am just going to uninstall the way the other user said I guess and reinstall.

Does this go for Steam aswell?

I believe the steam version has drm or securom.
Many think steam versions of games don't but some of them do.
As for installs I am not sure if steam bypasses anything.

So apparently ubisoft automatically updating my game and breaking it so it won't run and the uninstall program that came with my game just launches the game instead of uninstalling it makes me stupid.
Ubisoft seems to be the stupid ones here.
