I have a theory as to why Half-Life 2: Episode 3 and the Black Mesa Mod are taking so long to develop.
If you have been keeping track, it has been over 3 years since they were promised, and yet never showed. As most of you know, Valve is notorious for integrating mods and programmers into their Steam store and family. I theorize that Valve got wind of the Black Mesa project and started to look into it. Short story is that they loved it, got in contact with the developers, told them to keep quite and are now integrating it into HL2:E3.
A similar theory I have is that HL2:E3 is actually going to be using a whole new engine, one which is being worked on right now, causing the delay. Valve noticed Black Mesa, and decided to let the developers in on the goods, but they were sworn to secrecy, lest they reveal the benefits of the new engine. So now, Black Mesa is being re-developed utilizing this new engine.
Please point out any holes you see. I would love the input.
What ?

What what?
It's an old theory, but I believe it is still possible. Well, part of it. I don't think that the Black Mesa devs would be given experimental technology for their mod, because if they were, then HL3 would become required to run BM. I don't think the devs want something like that. However, the parts about the new engine and the HL3 being reality, I do agree with.

But that's part of my theory. Valve would package it together with HL3 or just release it alongside it. Why would they not want that? They've done it with other mods that require HL2:E2.

Such as?
Steam delivered MODs:
Age of Chivalry (requires Source SDK)
D.I.P.R.I.P. Warm Up (requires Source SDK)
Dystopia (requires Source SDK)
Eternal Silence (requires Source SDK)
INSURGENCY (requires Source SDK)
Pirates, Vikings, and Knights II (requires Source SDK)
Smashball (requires Source SDK)
Synergy (requires Half-Life 2)
Zombie Panic! Source (requires Source SDK)
Copied from a Steam forum. I was incorrect about HL2:E2, but all of them need some sort of Source engine game.

Well, for starters, you're implying that Valve is actually working on a new Half-Life game. This is absurd.
theres no Half Life 3

Why the fuck do you always use "dumb" instead of "disagree"?
Dumb = stupid, and is not something you disagree with.

Stupid conspiracy theorist, move along.
Ah, yes... mmm. I did fuck up the title of this thread... and the post. I'll fix the post but I'm pretty sure I can't change the title.
You don't understand Steam, Valve, businesses, Source and it's a silly theory.

Enlighten me please.
I cracked up thrice in the course of this thread so far. Please, go on, all of you.
Tonight on Conspiracy Thoery:
A random kid on Facepunch forums, the world's second largest hate site, has reported that Gabe Newell, CEO of Valve, may be working on Half Life 1 instead of Half Life 2: Episode 3. We go in depth with this later, but first: Was 9/11 a conspiracy? Find out next!
