I know this might be the wrong thread, but i'm desperate! Yesterday I got my account hacked from a legit looking site. It said Nvidia was giving away l4d for free. It looked like a steam site. It looked like the actual site where it says login. So i logged in and it said "Download Slots Currently Full. Please Try Again Later." So me being so excited I kept trying to get it. When it finally let me in it just when to a valve site with no confirmation about anything. So after a few minutes i get a message say "This account has been logged into from another computer." or w/e. so then i freaked out. And i made another account. This is who gave me the link- http://steamcommunity.com/id/alexiscoolbeans (This guy gave me link then logged rite after, and he ignores my friend invite) this is my account which was hacked- http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197968418574 And i did the steam support and im still waiting. Yes i am feeling like the dumbest idiot ever right now... :[ (DONT BE MEAN TO ME!
What was the address he gave you? I bet it was something obvious like a .tk domain. I hope you've learned to be suspicious of anything free on the internet now.
The site looked like the real one, thats the thing. It showed the orange top saying Steam or w/e. And no i dont deserved to be hacked, no one does. You wont be hearing me saying "You deserve it." to you if you got hacked. :( [editline]07:10AM[/editline] it was like thishttp://steamcommunity.com/nvidia/l4d Or something like it
You silly, silly child. You obviously haven't read Steam support's page of common scams. Anyway, you're best bet is to convince VALVe that it's your account through Steam support, and hopefully they'll get it back to you.
You wasn't hacked, you were phished, there's a fucking load of difference. Hacking requires no input from the victim, where as phishing does. Phishing is not a form of hacking, nor does it deserve to be called hacking.
Guess it was fake... http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090724003445AAN3kl8 Im telling you that it looked very very convincing. And yea ive tried the thing like i said in the beginning i gave them my orange box cd key, idk if that helped [editline]07:13AM[/editline] Has anyone seen this kinda page before?
If nVidia would have had such a contest, they would have out it on there site.
But i never check the site so i wouldn't know. Does anyone think i'll get it back?
I did the same thing a few weeks ago and then realized it was a .tk so I changed my password twice. And obviously informed the friend that gave me the link that it was a .tk so he could do the same. Thank god I noticed the .tk...
Im mostly surprised from Alex (the one who gave me link) because ive been friends with him for a while and he ends up being a dick...

Don't fall for this shit, it's so obvious when it's a phishing site. Don't EVER accept something that says "Free <insert free shit here>"
well i found the link i wont post it because i don't want this to happen to anyone unless someone wants to see what it looks like if u look at the site it wont screw u up but if u sign in it will.
Natural selection among the Steam accounts ain't bad. It keeps idiots away from online games. Still,
heheh well im yelling at alex right now [editline]11:22AM[/editline] And right after i showed him this link to this forum. He leaves the chat... guess he went to go find his balls
go tell eGO that he is a scammer so he can get kicked out :O
But i never check the site so i wouldn't know. Does anyone think i'll get it back?
You most likely get it back by giving them proof of you purchasing those products (scanning in keys, etc.) There is a high risk of it being VAC-banned though.
I love how this is all bullshit.
and thats alex ^
Had it coming.
I know the site is fake but that shit looks real, Im very suprised i thought it would have something like "Sign in here into the box that obviously looks fake and will get your account" That does look pretty legit
When you open a link that is not an official Valve supported site via steam, it tells you with a really big dialog box and a button asking for confirmation. If you didn't see this, don't bother getting your account back. You'll lose it again.
Man this guy just wont admit it! He started a chat with his name in it. He's the only alex witha megan fox as an avater..
owen wilsoned
I traced that fagot down for 3 acc's he got away son of a ... got half of some group phished on steam
It's only 13 games you lost. But yeah you should really read what it say's on steam
why did you enter your password on that site
Why in the fuck would Valve give one of their top sellers away for free? It reeks of scam. You are an idiot for believing it was even true. How can people be this fucking stupid? I can almost bet that you googled "Free steam games" and went for the first best link.
He just probably forgot to md5() your password and thought it would be cool to see if that password worked on your account. So then he decided to snoop around and have fun.
