• Ok, so I think I have a good idea for a game

Last night, while I was in my bed, I thought of a great idea for a game. It would basically be like The Most Dangerous Game. The idea of the game would be that there are two people on an island. This island would have many trees, foliage, swamps, valleys, rivers, and all sorts of features. One of the two people would be the hunter trying to kill the second person, the hider. For the hider to win, he has to do one of three things: -Stay alive for three days -Escape the island -Kill the hunter At the of the game, both people are inside the hunter's lodge. The hider has a 5-10 minute head start to try to find a good place to hide/camp. During these 5-10 minutes, the hunter will choose his gear (only standard hunting equipment) and will be able to study a map of the island. However, he cannot take the map with him. As soon as the hunter leaves the lodge after the initial 5-10 minutes, the actual hunt begins. Other Ideas -It'll be in the first person perspective -The island will always be a newly generated, so no two islands will be the same -Both the hunter and the hider will have to rely on sound, instinct, and wits, since there will be no radars or any other electronic technology. -Both people will create somewhat of a trail if they are not careful (in the way of broken twigs, destroyed grass, and so on) -There will be a day-and-night cycle -The hider will be able to climb up trees -The hider will also be able to make items (weapons, traps, shelters, supports, etc.) out of the materials that they can find (wood, stone, ivy, etc.) -Both people will need to eat and/or drink every few hours -Weather can play a big part
-This will obviously be co-op
I don't think you know what co-op means.
Hide and seek?
I don't think you know what co-op means.
Blargh, lemme rephrase it. [editline]10:09AM[/editline] Fuck it, I'll just take it out
So pretty much Stranded or Gmod Stranded but only with 2 people?
No offense, while MDG made a decent read, this concept will become tedious very quickly.
I kind of like it. Cept I agree with ^ As much as the idea itself is interesting, the chances are the Hunter will get bored, or the hider will just get bored of AFK'ing behind a rock and just give in, for a chance to Hunt.
Sounds like popular games/maps from warcraft 3. Vampirism: FIRE (and all others), island defence, werewolf transilvania, dark deeds and the list can go on and on. Also 1v1 is boring, more like a hunter for every 3 or 4 survivors.
Here's some more ideas 2 teams instead of 2 players, the hiders can either cooperate or spread to decrease change of getting caught. At start searchers can choose equipemnt, like weapons, food supplies, maybe 1 jeep (at the cost of a lot of other stuff) etc. hiders start all at 1 location, searchers get paradropped and so is their equipment, which they need to retrieve. No mini-map, searchers have a simple map with the basic features of the island.
It seems like a good concept at first but if you think about it, most of the game would just be the hider sitting waiting for the hunter to show up, and the hunter would just be aimlessly wandering around.

Say for example a hider sets a trap, that could slow the hunter's speed. Alternatively the hider could 'spike' the dropped food cargo, making the hunter need to eat more often, or violently ill, leaving traces (i.e. sick) of there whereabouts in a trail for a certain amount of time. Various little things like that COULD make the hiders job a little bit more interesting. Possibly have wild animals which they have to avoid/kill then hide the corpse of?
Sounds kinda boring.
And is this going to stay a idea or are you planning on actually making it yourself?
This might be a good game if it were: 1) Free 2) On XBL/PSN 3) More players (1 Hunter ever X hiders) Also, you would need to refine the gameplay to make it much more interesting for both the hunters and the hiders. If the all the hunters did was run around looking for the hiders (and if it's a big map) they'll get annoyed quickly. So if the game started late day, the hiders could run out and need to make a shelter or something, and with it becoming night soon they would need warmth so a fire would be needed. The fire would obviously provide light giving away their position, or smoke during the day. The hunter could lay traps, some more noticable than others. The hiders can attempt to switch the trap or even move it to another location for the hunter to fall victim to. There are a lot of ways you can make this "boring" game idea into a more interesting survival game, just use you're imagination.

It wouldn't be a good idea to sell it as retail and it would be a much better if it was like, a $10 game on XBL or PSN, as you said. And I thought I mentioned the idea of traps, shelters, and other constructions of the sort? And to all the people who think that the hider would get bored, he could always kill the hunter.
Sounds fun, I would try it.
So it is simply DM on island?
I'd play it. As long as the hider can make complex weapons out of twigs and coconuts.
