I've always wondered why when someone says they don't like the Wii and it sucks in their opinion, people start telling the names of games for Wii that happen to be good.
Basically like this:
Tom: Wii sucks.
Tim: METROID, NO MORE HEROES, MARIO GALAXY (and so on)
"Tom" never said anything about all Wii games sucking. He just means the console itself sucks. And it also applies backwards. If someone says they like Wii, people start saying the names of horrible Wii games.
What's the deal with that? Since when was the Wii the same thing as its games?
Because nobody gives a shit about the console itself, just the games it has. I bought a wii because the technology could be used it neat ways in games, not on the sole fact it had a cool gimmic.
Wii plays games, nothing else.
Saying that the wii sucks does in fact imply that its games suck.
It's as simple as that. A dictionary has no place in a debate.
The wii has to many bad games. There are a few select that are good... I mean really, cooking mama? Who would play that...
Zelda is an amazing game though, its why I bought my wii, but then bought a ps3.
well it kind of is
The wii like the 360 and ps3 ( I really don't care what the marketers say they're gaming consoles with shiny gimmicks nothing else) are just for gaming so yes it is a valid arguemant to list good wii games if someone says the wii sucks

PS3 can do more...
Blu-Ray
Internet
On earlier models run linux (Pointless though)
Stream Movies with Netflix
Wii has a good concept, but in their attempt to make a cheap console, they used shitty, slow parts.
That's why the motion control for the PS3 will win. Motion control plus good console equals success.
The problem with the Wii is instead of fully using motion control to its potential it became more of a gimmick. Now the PS3 and 360 have motion control too, but also have normal games and much better hardware. So the Wii itself has become pretty much useless. As for the games most of them, besides some made by Nintendo and a few others, suck pretty badly.

I hate to derail this, but:
Even if the motion controls are better, there's not a chance in hell it will get used right. A peripheral comes and goes. To make a game that uses this wand thing makes no sense unless it's standard with the console because most people just won't be able to play your game then. This is the sad fate of motion controls. You either make them standard and be hated for it, or you make them a peripheral and never see them get used in a decent way.

Blu-ray is only used for gaming for I have seen film on DVD then blu ray and there is no differance, who uses internet on the ps3, you said linux was pointless so there.
As for streaming movies, I never knew the PS3 could do that

Oh look here we go again.
Nobody cares, the damn thing costs more too so you pay more for extra features which would be retarded if otherwise.

It costs like $100 more than the Wii, and same price as the 360.
Wii is an overpriced gamecube with motion controls.

This is an idiotic thing to say.

The Wii has Internet and there's some kind of Netflix thing coming out soon or already out.

Xbox:
DVD
Stream movies with Netfix
XBLA
Wii:
Wii Store (Most games are N64 games)
They're [del]all[/del] both good. The Wii mostly sucks though.
I was just correcting the the guy that said all these things were were gaming consoles.
I was just correcting the the guy that said all these things were were gaming consoles.
They are regardless of what you say they were all created to play video games that's it
The Wii has Internet and there's some kind of Netflix thing coming out soon or already out.
Yeah it's almost out, but not HD. Still, it's made it to all 3 consoles now. The Wii's OK when it comes to homebrew, too.
Wii is an overpriced gamecube with motion controls.
But the Wii can play Gamecube games.
It's also fucking beast for homebrew.

twilight princess is a mediocre fan service
Tom sounds like he takes video games too seriously and should get the stick out of his ass. They're games. They're for your enjoyment.
wii sucks
wii sucks
but
METROID, NO MORE HEROES, MARIO GALAXY
those are great
I got a Wii because I thought Nintendo could use the motion sensing shit creatively. I was very disappointed. It still hasn't been put to good use. I mean one of the most sold games for Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, most people just use a Game cube controller.

But no one buys consoles to watch DVDs or Blu-Ray, those are just added perks. Consoles are judged by their games, often the strongest, fastest console which it technically the 'best' loses overall because the competition has better games. The Wii is winning because it sells shit 'party games' that aren't fun, have no depth, no gameplay and basic visuals to people who want to get into gaming but are intimidated by all the action and killing.
The Wii is a small, cute console with shallow but 'cute' games that mass markets eat up. The 360 and PS3 are large black (and white for non-elite xboxes), hardware intensive machines which produce stunning visuals, deep stories (sometimes) and have varied gameplay, but this intimidates people who new to gaming, whether because they dismissd them as children's toys, being too nerdy or are too young.
I hate the Wii, not because it's not powerful, but because instead of showing people what games can do, that is, providing exciting and deep stories and characters in an interactive setting (look at Heavy Rain or Half-Life 2) they give the public shit minigames and over charge for them, and blind them to what games can do. A lot of people still consider games to be shallow and that has been reenforced by the Wii's catalouge of games.
There are good games for the Wii, but they are few and far between.
I think I over did it there.

Personally, I think Nintendo should get off their lazy asses and make a game that actually has some good depth and uses the motion controls to actual use, instead of using them like buttons. :|
