I know it's usually something along the lines of:

Free
Populated
Pick two of the above.
But there has to be something out there other than shitty runescape and those cartoony pieces of crap. I'm looking for something along the lines of Huxley or Diablo II, but out currently and with no starting or monthly fee.
I'd really appreciate any sugestions.

DDO looks pretty good I suppose but bonus points to anyone that finds a Good, Free, Populated, FPS MMORPG.

should be very cheap to buy now, and they are free to play.

Don't get me wrong I used to play it and I found it fun for a while despite having to endure the parts at the begining in which everything seems a little... camp let's say. After that it gets quite good but it takes a long time to get there.

I found a game pretty similiar to Maple story but alot more fun imo.

It's a 3d sidescroller. I have no idea how long it've been around but it's pretty populated, free and good.
To be honest, you play one MMO you played them all.
I'd suggest maybe Wow-Scape for WoW Private servers.
Only ones I know are kinda crappy and anime based.
Cabal online is pretty good, although you'll need to grind alot at later levels. Lineage 2 in a private server is awesome.

My Suggestion:
Do not play this game, its terrible, i cry whenever i see advertisements. It use to be really good, very fun, but then someone died and made a homosexual kid friendly CEO king and now its all gone to shit.
