• Need help with new server from Fanatical VPS.

Most of you probably know about the problems with Brohoster at the moment. So, I decided to switch server providers to something else. This time around I tried something a bit more hands-on, so I went to FanaticalVPS, after the reccomnedations of some Facepunchers. Now, I decided to order the super-micro plan (256/512MB RAM, 5GB disk & unmetered), and then I would order 512MB of additional RAM, leaving me with 768MB RAM. Then, I would install CentOS onto it as suggested by Panthereye. (I installed CentOS 5.5 64 bit, to be exact.) Then I installed the latest Java and Minecraft server versions as well as Craftbukkit and a few plugins. But when I go to start the server, I have a problem. I went to start the server with 512MB of RAM, but I saw that my server RAM usage shot up to more than my allotted 768MB of RAM to use some of the Burst RAM. This is no good for long term usage. So I decided to start it again on 256MB. This left my RAM usage at about ~600MB which is groovy. So I got 10 people on the server to stress test and let them play with TNT. Everything went splendidly. Hundreds of TNT exploded at once, new chunks being generated, nether gates being made, and everything went smoothly with no issues. So I decided to delete the test map, and then put my old map back on the server. The server does not have enough RAM to launch my large map for some reason under 256 MB. As a matter of fact, I then discovered that it isn't capable of generating a new map on 256MB, and I need to switch to 512MB for the initial generation. After that, though, I can then switch to 256 MB and it runs beautifully. Note that the problem persists on vanilla Minecraft. TL;DR: know the map is eventually going to get as large as the old one, so are there any tips to help with RAM usage and management?
Open a ticket on there site, they can probably help you.
