This is a Dwarf Fortress Succession thread (take 3...)! There was another one, but that one decided to let a guy run off with the save and never come back. Now there are things to prevent that. PM'ing shows up right in my face and gets your point across, so do that. We all need to have the same version of DF, or the saves might not work. We're using the same as before. [B]If you want to take part, download this version:[/B] [B][url=http://filesmelt.com/Filehosting2/downloader.php?file=Dwarf Fortress 40d13.7z]Dwarf Fortress 40d13 Facepunch Succession version[/url][/B] Notes about this version: [list] Uses the Anikki 8x8 character set, nice and square, has some graphics for things like beds and tables which is easier for people new to DF to understand[/list] [list]Natural colour scheme[/list] [list]Runs at a resolution of 800x304 with a grid size of 100x38[/list] [list]Has a new plant that is cheaper and faster growing than PH's but cannot be brewed.[/list] [B][U] How to play[/U][/B] The third dimension is fine. However, if you make 13 different levels with no purpose at all but garbage dumps, that isn't really good. The fort shouldn't have to go beyond a level until we're reaching the limits of the current one. After that, just make sure all is included in the end photo, and it's construction is well-documented. The game will Auto-Save every year, when it Auto-saves, you are done. Zip up the entire save folder and host it somewhere (Mediafire, filefront, rapidshare I don't give a fuck). Do not post the save in this thread, [B]PM the save to me, and i'll send it to the next player[/B]. Just incase I change the list order. [B][U]Players FAQ[/U][/B] [U][B] 'But what if I want to use a graphical tileset?',[/B][/U] If you want to, I have no objections, however, all your photos in this thread must be in Aniiki. If this means you must save and reload constantly to take pictures, so be it. Consistency is paramount. [b]'How good do I need to be to play?'[/b] Do you die in well forested, non-aquifer, brook, with stone areas in under a minute without doing something completely dumb? No? Then you're good enough. [b]'I'm going to make the best defence ever'[/b] Preferably not. Doing that for your own creations is fine, as I do. But in this we're going for a different playstyle. [b]'Do I need to write my turn as a story?'[/b] Let's put in an easy to understand way. This game is not just for you to play DF by yourself, it's for all of us to play for [b]all[/b] of us to have fun with and enjoy. If your turn is boringly written, it may be skipped just for that. It doesn't necessarily have to be a story, that's just a well-accepted format that allows for entertainment, even if nothing really happens during your year. Plus, you can be whatever you want in DF, make yourself the kind leader, or the militaristic DIS EEES SPURRRRTTTTTAAAA type guy, whatever, it's all for fun. [b]'HOW DO I TAKE PICTURES OF MY GAME?'[/b] I pause and use printscreen, myself. However there are other ways, including FRAPS, and some other ones you can find on forums. [b]How Long do I get to play my turn?[/b] Ah yes, the inevitable question. You get four days, to the minute from when I send you the save. If you know you won't complete in that time, PM me or post here to say so, as you will not be going again any time soon if you don't complete. I don't want to play necessarily, but I like reading the story, so put me in the starting party :D
