[B]What is Minecraft?[/B]
[release]Minecraft is a game about blocks. A whole infinite world of blocks. You start with nothing, and are forced to survive. Punch some trees to get some wood, craft it into an axe or pickaxe, grab suplies, make a house, survive the horde of monsters, and so on. Minecraft is limitless - in more ways than one. The world is randomly generated as you explore it, and the gameplay is limited by your imagination. Make castles, floating islands, call a cave home - you can do whatever you want. Bored? Start up multiplayer and enjoy all that, with your friends! :buddy:

Minecraft is still in Alpha. Buying the game now will make you able to play the next versions of the game, without having to pay again, and once it reaches beta (pretty soon) the price is doubling. Notch (the developer) has a lot planned for the game, so keep your eyes open.

Creepers are the green things with four legs, they simply walk up do you and explode when they are close enough. They drop powder which can be used to make TNT along with sand. I warn you watch out for the SSSSSSsss!

Skeletons are the walking bones you see, and they love to shoot arrows. Just strafe them and land a couple hits with your sword. They love to drop their arrows (random amount). These can be used with bows made from string dropped by spiders.

Spiders are the bane of every miner's existance. They jump really high and can usually outrun you. They are wide though so they have trouble getting through doorways. These drop string so you can make bows. Use arrows from skeletons with these.

Zombies are really not much of a threat, but can attack you from above and kill you. They drop feathers, for whatever reason, which are used to make arrows.

Slimes are the smallest mob when in baby form. Baby slimes grow in Peaceful mode, but are friendly. They can grow to be 5x5+ big and are friendly in baby form. Slimes can ONLY be found in certain chunks of your map, so if you're wondering why you never see them down in your mine, you should move your mine to a different chunk and check there.

Ghasts are floating jellyfish-esque mobs that shoot fireballs from their mouth. You can throw their fireballs back at them if you are skilled enough!

Pigs are friendly creatures which give you pork when you kill them. Pork can be used to heal, and if you throw it into the furnace it gives you a great health boost. If you find a saddle, you can have a fun time riding them.

Sheep are friendly and will drop wool/cloth, which is mostly useless. It is useful if you need some blocks and get bothered with dirt, wood or anything else.

Cows drop leather when killed, and leather is used to make armor. They also double as musical instruments.

Chickens drop eggs from time to time, eggs have no use as of right now. When killed, they sometimes drop feathers which can be used to make arrows.

[/B]They are found in the Nether. As long as you do not provoke them, they are as friendly as their non zombie counterpart. However, the second you hurt them, RUN.[/release]

[B]Latest Update[/B]
[release][b]Minecraft Alpha v1.2.2, Minecraft Server 0.2.4[/b]
A whole pile of bug fixes in this one. There’s still a lot more to do, coming over the next couple of weeks or so.

General fixes:
* players and mobs in lava or fire no longer spam sound effects
* getting hit with a higher damage while recovering from a smaller one now works as intended
* lava flows further in the Nether
* zombie pigs eventually forgives
* added support for custom skin packs
* fixed duplicate buttons when resizing screens
* zombie pigs and ghasts no longer get hurt by fire or lava
* fixed volume sliders now saving properly

Multiplayer fixes:
* hellworld=true no longer overwrites old save chunks. Player positions will still break if you switch it on a running server, though
* boats are now visible to other players
* minecarts move nicer
* fishing kinda sorta works, but needs more work
* sheep and cows look like sheep and cows now
* buckets work now
* fixed stairs being really difficult to destroy
* increased the timeout before “Took too long to log in”
* made it possible to ride carts and boats
* added (after lots of work) the ability to steer server-side boats
* added “no-animals” setting. if true, animals will immediately vanish
* added support for more animation settings. Currently it’s just the “riding” animation, but the same system will be used for sneaking

To make a texture pack, make a zip file that contains the files you wish to replace, then place that zip file in the texture pack folder. There’s a handy button ingame to open that folder immediately.

If you place a “pack.png” file in the root of the zip file, it’ll show up as a preview icon. Please make sure it’s square, and of an even 2^x size. For example, 128x128 pixels.
If you place a “pack.txt” file in the root of the zip fil
