The Saboteur is a third person action-adventure video game set during World War II in German-occupied France. It was published by Electronic Arts and developed by Pandemic Studios, with the latter being liquidated after finishing the game.
I recently bought this and immediately fell in love with it, it's a fun game, has lots of replayability and is an all around awesome game that no one really played. If you haven't played this yet I highly suggest you pick it up, it's only about 20$ and worth every penny if you can get past a few minor bugs and glitches. Unfortunately Pandemic Studios closed down after making this game so the chances of a sequel are highly unlikely and a lot of the bugs are probably never going to get patched. But enough of this, on to some actual information about the game and how it plays (shamelessly copied from Wikipedia).
Story:
The game's protagonist, Sean Devlin (based on war hero William Grover-Williams), is a hard drinking Irish racecar mechanic,[4] a regular among the racing groups of Paris. After being cheated out of a win in the 1940 Saarbrücken Grand Prix by Kurt Dierker, a Nazi colonel, Sean and his best friend Jules Rousseau seek revenge and sabotage his prized racecar. After being captured, Dierker executes Jules during interrogation under the belief they are really British agents sent to spy on him, but Sean escapes. The rest of the storyline chronicles Sean's fight to kill Dierker. He is recruited by the French Resistance and its leader Luc, and British SOE, who help him throughout the story. The story takes place during World War II and the German occupation of France, but the war itself is used as a backdrop to the main story, which is about Sean's fight to avenge Jules's murder, protect Jules's sister Veronique, and kill Dierker.
Basically you're a badass Irish guy who get's his tire shot out by some Nazi bastard, so you wreck his car, get caught, and Nazi bastard shoots your friends so you set out to get revenge and kill a ton of Nazis along the way. Not really any epic plot twists or anything extremely dramatic but the story is enough to keep you playing through the missions.
Gameplay:
The player is able to explore the open world Nazi-occupied Paris and some of the countryside and parts of Germany.[1] Colour is a key element in the gameplay. Areas which are heavily controlled by the Germans are depicted in black and white, with the exception of the irises of characters' eyes, yellow city lights, blue symbols of the French Resistance, and various German symbols, which are bright red and complete with swastikas. In order to make that district coloured ("inspired") again, players must weaken the German forces occupying the area. In doing so, that district's citizens regain their hope, visually represented by making the area vibrant and full of colour. This also affects gameplay: in black and white areas, German soldiers are present in large numbers, making it far more likely that Sean will be detected in his rebellious activities. In coloured areas, the Germans will not be completely evicted, but they will no longer be so ubiquitous, and will primarily be centered around military bases, barracks, police stations, HQs, and other strategically important sites. In addition, the French people will play an active role in the struggle for coloured zones. For example, if Sean gets into a fight with German soldiers in a coloured area, allies like the French Resistance, the Maquis, and even French passersby will intervene against the occupiers.
Throughout the game, players will upgrade their character in the form of "Perks". These will improve accuracy, ammo counts, damage and more. Perks are gained through actions, such as evading high alarm levels, sniping targets or demolishing a set number of German installations. The player also has the ability to scale buildings and even reaching rooftops; where sometimes loot of some kind can be found or get a good sniper's view of the ground beneath. A garage can save vehicles and also repair damaged ones. The player also can engage in fist-fights or use a more stealthy approach, by sneaking around and even changing into a disguise.
The player can buy weapons, ammunition, explosives, maps and other items on the black market.
What I love about the gameplay is there's a ton of different ways to play:you can go in guns blazing, use stealth kills to pick off Nazis one by one, pick guards off from a distance using a sniper rifle, or get a disguise and go all Hitman on their asses.
Characters
* Sean Devlin: the main protagonist in the game. He is an Irish street racer/mechanic who is also a heavy drinker, a heavy smoker and a womanizer. He tends to have a very violent temper when people doubt him. Sean has a deep hatred towards the Nazis (especially towards Dierker). He had to leave Ireland due to an unknown crime that he committed. He is skilled in the use of firearms and explosives and would do anything to stop the Nazis, even if it meant his own life.
* Kurt Dierker: a Nazi SS Colonel and racer who serves as the main antagonist of the game. He is sadist and a sociopath who would kill anyone who defied him.
* Luc Gaudin: a French writer who becomes the leader of the French resistance. He has a deep hatred towards the Nazis and comments how they infest Paris like roaches.
* Veronique Rousseau: a French woman who is the love interest of Sean. She and Sean have been somewhat close until Jules was killed and after that their relationship has been strained. Her parents own the cabaret "Belle de Nuit."
* Jules Rousseau: is the brother of Veronique and the best friend of Sean. He seems to be a little over protective towards his sister and doesn't want Sean dating her.
* Skylar St. Claire: a promiscuous blonde British agent who has an on and off relationship with Sean. She talks in innuendos and tends to call Sean a "naughty boy."
* Vittore Morini: an Italian man who is the father figure of Sean. He is a mechanic who created Sean's Race car "the Aurora." He often tells Sean not to do anything stupid.
So in short, The Saboteur is an awesome game that no one played, go and buy it right now.
And if you want me to add something to the OP either PM me or just post it here.
See now I loved this game ,but what I hated is climbing. You had to mash the A button a lot.
I loved this game so much.
It made me sad that there wasn't going to be any DLC since the studio got shut down.
I loved this game, sure it pissed me off to the point where I had to replace a controller but in the end it was an enjoyable game.
Sadly it had no replay value.
You Englishmen have no taste.
I'm fuckin' IRISH

Yeah the climbing was pretty iffy at times, but what pissed me off is having to find a really crazy way around a spot because there was a fucking clothesline in my way.
I love this game. I regret selling it now.

Don't even get me started on the damn clotheslines also R.I.P. Pandemic.

I throw my Devs into the air sometimes sayin' ayooo I am EA yo.
My computer is shit and can't run it like I'd like to, so the visuals don't appeal to me as much, but this game is still brilliant. I love sneaking around killing people after you unlock the "touch of death" perk
-snip-
I would have beaten it but it crashes whenever I leave the safehouse.
Poor Pandemic :tf:
Should be on Steam.
Should be on Steam.
I know it's on EADM and D2D, wonder why it's not on Steam and why it's still $30USD there...
Man now that I think about it, this has to to be one of my favorite games of all time.
I just loved it, sure there wasn't a ton of content, but it didn't really need that. It was amazing for what it was.
Aww man, this game was so awesome...It never got the attention that it deserves...:smithicide:
This game is insanely fun and beautiful, i just loved throwing them Krauts flying out of their watchtowers.
The game had an amazing soundtrack as well.

Screw it, I'm re-buying this game tomorrow I loved it so much.
The song from the trailer was pretty good too.

This would've been amazing if the stealth wasn't so broken
Does it work better with ATI yet? I used to have it for Nvidia but I have an ATI card now and I heard it used to be broken for ATI-users.
I reinstalled this just recently. Such a fun game, the art design is great too. I have the soundtrack :buddy:
Ah this game. Got it last year at winter break. It has a special place in my heart, despite the fact that I destroyed a controller or 2 over it. That [sp]GODDAMN PHONE MISSION, the one where you have to go from building to building killing fucker and tapping the phones?[/sp] made me rage so fucking hard, even though it wasn't difficult. I was just getting sick of the bullshit.
This game was awesome, though it felt a little shallow after a few hours of playing. Even though Pandemic is dead, if EA makes a sequel, I hope it takes place in Berlin right before the Berlin Wall was built and implements Mercenaries' faction system.
Was planning on getting this a while back... gonna get it now, thanks for reminding me of this game OP
I loved this game so much, I still play it from time to time dressing as a Nazi and shooting pedestrians. I just hate how it was overlooked, this was Pandemic's last game and it didn't get a lot of attention like it should have.
This game is amazing, I'm sad it didn't get more popular. It's a really, really fun game, I love it. I got it around it's release
Great game, loved every minute of it. Damn shame the developers went under right after its release.
Creepy, I just started playing this again today.
The game had everything I wanted; Free-roam, climbing, killing Nazi's and NUDITY.
Will always be one of my favourite games.
