Arsenal of Democracy is an updated version of the game Hearts of Iron 2 for the PC. It includes many new scenarios, detailed statistics of how WW2 is going, support for widescreen resolutions and more. The Hearts of Iron series is a World War 2 alternate history game, where you can select any of the nations that existed at the time and fight the war how you would have done it. The community has made a lot of mods over the years, such as Kaiserreich, a modification which creates a scenario where Germany won the first world war. And Modern Day Scenario, a mod which, as you might have guessed, puts you in the modern world instead of World War 2. Unfortunately these mods aren't yet compatible with AoD. If any of you join it, I encourage you to join my People's Communist Party of America. :D http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=468949
Apart from Scenarios and historical events which I can only see causing the game to be considerably more 'put on rails', what makes this better than HoI2 and why should people spend their money for what could be practically the exact same game?
just got this game gunna try it out ill post back [editline]07:28PM[/editline]
This game is a lot better performance-wise. Less reliant on the processor. I can play this game smoothly

Whey they mean they "fine-tuned" the options, they really did. There are a lot more options and things to play with.
also: i wouldn't recommend playing with the resolution, it makes your ui fuck up and look retarded.
I've been meaning to make a thread about it for a while. It's a really good game, and much better than HoI3
I bought HoI2 with the hopes it would be amazing. It's too dang confusing for me though and online tutorials are no help what so ever.

When you're used to the game you can remove the cheats and play normally.
No
You do know that it's nothing more than an opinion right? Mine, but yours aswell.

They completely revamped how production and espionage work. They also made several changes to combat. It lasts longer, there are more missions for units to do (such as artillery bombardment), the game keeps track of how many men died à la Hearts of Iron 3 and aeroplanes are finally able to conduct missions over one province. RADAR is also supposedly improved but as far I can tell it only makes AA far more effective in the region it is in. There are other changes but I can't think of them off the top of my head.
radar also helps detect incoming aircraft in a province and gives sight to your fighters/interceptors to chase after them.
