Half-Life: Source ERROR - "Engine Error: Out of memory"

I start Half-Life: Source, everything is black, I hear the startup "valve.avi" or whatever. No picture. Then I can see a Loading.. then CRASH and "Engine Error: Out of Memory" pops up.

How do I fix this? I'm frustrated.

CTRL+ALT+DELETE

then open task manager and go to the process tab.

organize it so it shows what program is using the most memory.

tell us what it is if you don't know what it is, because you may end something important.

Well duh! Half-Life Source is a REALLY high quality game. You need a REALLY good computer to run it.

OP, you probably have some programs running in the background. Do you always leave your PC on?
