It's already a month ago that Dead Before Dawn was officially released as “fully finished”.

Around 100,000 downloads later, we can tell you that the version for left 4 dead 2 is almost arriving as well. We opted to increase the details and props, just because the l4d2 engine allows it and it helps making the world of DBD more immersive as well...
We're happy to announce that the version for Left 4 Dead 2 will have several optimizations and improvements:
* Several map (engine) optimizations
* map pimping with l4d2 props and materials
* full l4d2 weapons and item spawns
* game instrutor on all important events for new players
* mini quests
* hybrid finale (gauntlet & holdout)
* Custom new music for the L4D2 Special Infected
We will release Dead Before Dawn Too on november 24th.
Visit our Moddb page, feel free to vote for us!
Looks beautiful.
I thought this was always for L4D2... so I'm downloading the version for L4D. Looks awesome.
Downloading now. Can't believe i missed this.
Why is the release the L4D2 version AFTER the voting on MODDB, do you fear the quality isn't good enough or something/are just too lazy?
Anyway, the L4D1 version was pretty decent, I hope you fixed up the L4D2 version though.
I dont understand how poeple called the beta a pile of shit, yes there was a few bugs and CJ was hardly heard. But god I loved that campaign.
Look's nice, can't wait for it to be released.

hm, the award goes till end of november!
to be honest, i didnt know that they doing the moddb award thing. its planed since 6 week to release it on the 24th november.
but i think we will rush on the 20th november. its ready since 4 weeks. :P
we cut the mall maze out. that was map 5, the food court. dbd is now very linear. ppl dont liked to backtrack in l4d.
I remember when I played the beta, my sound was messed up so I had no idea there was a countdown to escape the bombs, so I died like 10 times.
Looks like it'll going to be a handful to download.
ahaha!
you know, we spent over two years working on dead before dawn. well, i would be happy if just 10 would download it and like it.
After almost 2 months of tweaking and tinkering and running the dbd maps for left 4 dead trough the l4d2 authoring tools and exploring it's new features, we are done and present to you the version of Dead Before Dawn for Left 4 dead 2!
here you go:

Yay, finally! A reason to play L4D2 again.
This started off as HL2 Mod on mapping-tutorials.de, right?
I think it was for No more room in hell.
the mall front was made for NMRIH. i think i started it around 2005.
after nmrih somehow failed (i worked for them 4 years), i ported it middle 2008 for l4d1, even the game wasnt out. i would say i spent around 3.000 hours to get dbd ready. the whole team worked around 6.000 hours together on it.
i know, its hard to understand to spend so much time in a "normal" campaign. but dbd is very different to other campaigns. we have custom sounds, music, models, textures and all scripts are hardly focusing coop gameplay... more than in valves maps. dbd is somehow our variant of l4d2.
well, the first beta wasnt successfull. ppl started to complain the crashes (which we didnt have on our servers). i honestly wanted to give up dbd after some guys started to hate the beta, but ppl donated money and donators are like customers. if you get something from the community you have to give them back what you promised. But the most important help, or lets call it "critics" we got form all the guys who didn't like the halloween 2009 beta version. All comments helped us to do "Dead before Dawn" better!
anyway, enjoy dbd2!
I really disliked the lighting on this campaign, with Valve maps, the well lit areas are direction on where to head next, with this one, they're in all the wrong places, and really confuses the player.
The driver at the gas station was a great idea.
hehe, yeah! its the preacher from L4D1. Somehow he survived his infection. :P

Yeah?
Well this isnt a Valve map. :smug:
Also nice job DBD team this was a great improvement.
Wow, I completely forgot about it, but now I remember how excited I was to see this coming out! Thanks for the heads up!
Nice campaign. Looks cool. Downloading right now.
But shouldn't this go into the Left 4 Dead section?
Will definitely go home and download.
I really wish CJ could have subtitles.
It's really easy to miss what he says.
Downloading to play tonight. My friends and I love these types of campaigns. Long, Unique, Valve Quality. Needs to be more of them.
Does the bombing event on the first map have a chance to occur?
we are planing a "directors cut" with more mall parts. to be hornest, i think we will cut map 1 totally out to add 2 huge mall parts, which been in the first beta. ppl want to spend more time in the mall and we have 2 unused maps for dbd2. both of them have the same size like map 4 (clean_up map).
right now we doing a real cool cinematic trailer.
it would be kind if you guys vote for us on moty:

Yes! More mall levels! Good to hear.
Oh also, I loved how you included "the twitcher" by the same fountain. My friends and I had a good laugh.
I'm getting stuck on the part where you close the malls security doors. I close them but nothing happens. Am I supposed to do something after I close them?
