...fuck bitches. What is Monster Hunter Freedom Unite? Well... Monster Hunter is a series of games formerly for the PS2 and recently for the PSP and Wii. What we're talking about is the current PSP version, Freedom Unite. MHFU is a standalone expansion to Monster Hunter Freedom 2. Monster Hunter is wildly popular in Japan. Upon it's release, it lowered the productivity of the country. As of July 8, 2009, the game has sold 3.5 million copies in that region. In the US and EU? Not as popular, but just as loved. So, for those who have played Monster Hunter Freedom 2 previously, what's the deal with Freedom Unite? - Now you can hire a little Felyne hunting companion to assist you during your solo missions. Your cat buddy can help forage for items and provide some damage in fights. You may also train your furry friends, growing their skills the more quests you do with them. Felyne warriors are unavailable in multiplayer, sadly. - All items are now stackable up to 99. - Improved town inventory interface. Now you may arrange, sell and send items to your home box from almost every location in town! - 3 more Hunter Ranks to gain in the Guild Hall, plus a new Felyne Elder with a whole 3 sets of tough, tough hunts! - Great Forest, home to the Nargacuga, that black panther beast on the game cover, and also the Hypnocatrice, a distant cousin of the Yian Kut Ku! - All your favorite areas from the original MH1/MHF will make a return! You missed Desert didn't you? Sure you did. - The aforementioned Nargacuga & Hypnocatrice, plus Lavasioth, Ulkanos and everyone's favourite floating mess of vines, Yama Tsukami! - Your old favorites including the fart-happy Congalala now return with new moves up their sleeve, watch out! So what kind of monsters am I fighting? Uh... (Hint: Click on it.) Lot's. Holy fuck. How am I suppose to kill all that shit? With a large variety of weapons. Don't forget other people too! This game has multiplayer, but it is not directly integrated with the game. You can access it one of two ways... Ad-Hoc access through the PS3. You will need a PS3 for this (obviously) and the free Ad-Hoc applications. or XLink Kai. This is the popular way of playing online, but it takes some very specific wireless dongles and a but of setup. You can read a guide on how to get it running here: XP Setup, Vista Setup. If you have 7, apperantly using the Vista guide works fine. You mentioned a lot of weapons... Yes I did. One large point of Monster Hunter is to kill monsters so you can killer bigger monsters. You do this by using pieces of things you've killed in armor and weapons you can make. Now, all armor is generally the same when it comes to just wearing it, but there are 10 kinds of weapons that all have different properties. Wii :colbert:
Wii :colbert:
Is that really all you read?
I love MHF on PSP, I used to have MH on PS2 as well, seriously one of the most fun and original games I've ever played. I really need to play them again, maybe even get MHFU.
Oh not allowed to have an opinion I guess.
PSP and Wii :colbert:
You know what?
You know what?
He edited his post to prove his real point. I find your statement mean. I'm going to cry now.
God damn it. Why do people always put what systems it's for at the end. I was excited then "you need a PS3 obviously". Well obviously not If I had to get to the end of the post to find out. Anyway, the game looks awesome.
My friend is obsessed with the PSP version of this game. I used to have a Wii and it's a shame that it's constrained to those two platforms
I thought the same thing when I found out Tri was on the Wii. I would kill for a PS3 version.
God damn it. Why do people always put what systems it's for at the end. I was excited then "you need a PS3 obviously". I did mention a second way to get online without the use of a PS3.
Oh. I thought the rest of that section was just about the ad-hoc connection. Thanks for pointing that out.
MHFU is on the PSP. Monster Hunter Tri is on the Wii.
I got every MH game for PSP and I gotta say: It's really addictive! You should really try it it's one of the best games I ever played EDIT: WTF?! Who rated me dumb?
Damn, I really want to try a Monster Hunter, but I don't own a Wii or a PSP (my PS3 isn't BC and my PS2 isn't working).
man, I really need to get back to playing MHFU. no clue why I stopped. now I just need to find my PSP charger. I think I left it back upstate, though...
I wish they would release a damn English version of that Monster Hunter MMO.
This game was the shit on PSP.
This is actually fairly fun. I try not to play it, as it's exactly the kind of game that i'll play for hours on end. :X Oh, and: I'm on to you. :smug:
I LOOKED like another Asian MMO grind-fest. Am I mistaken? :colbert:
I LOOKED like another Asian MMO grind-fest. Am I mistaken? :colbert:
It doesn't contain levels. It's not an MMO.
It doesn't contain levels. It's not an MMO.
But there IS an MMO version, but in Korean/Japanese. I wish they could translate it and ship it in English.
My gripe with this game is that everything hits so slow. Where's the SPEED class? Give me some daggers or some shit.
My gripe with this game is that everything hits so slow. Where's the SPEED class? Give me some daggers or some shit.
Daggers wouldn't work against the larger monsters. The first time I ever encountered a Wyvern, the sword I used to attack him just bounced off of his skin.
Daggers wouldn't work against the larger monsters. The first time I ever encountered a Wyvern, the sword I used to attack him just bounced off of his skin.
So some of the classes are worthless? Wow that's great.
So some of the classes are worthless? Wow that's great.
it's not that they're worthless, it's just that some take a bit more time to master. you can kill anything and everything with just one type of weapon. it's just not practical.
This is actually fairly fun. I try not to play it, as it's exactly the kind of game that i'll play for hours on end. :X Oh, and: I'm on to you. :smug:
Shit...
it's not that they're worthless, it's just that some take a bit more time to master. you can kill anything and everything with just one type of weapon. it's just not practical.
Eh. I wasn't a fan of the demo, so I don't know. I don't think this game is for me.
I keep hearing such good things about this series, but it's not available for any of the systems I use regularly.
I keep hearing such good things about this series, but it's not available for any of the systems I use regularly.
Get a PSP or get a wii and wait for Tri to come out in english. It'll be worth it. Yay,thread back to first page,it deserves it.
But there IS an MMO version, but in Korean/Japanese. I wish they could translate it and ship it in English.
not even, all it is is monster hunter on the computer. [editline]02:37PM[/editline]
So some of the classes are worthless? Wow that's great.
upgrade sword & shield or dual daggers and you can have strong shit just as the heavier weapons.
The bow is such an awesome weapon. Shoot, evade, shoot, evade, and you're able to down almost any of the tougher creatures. The only "boss" I've had trouble with so far is the congalala(sp?). Even then, you just have your felyne distract him while you shoot and you'll beat it.
