Question regarding the USP silencer in metal gear solid 1 - Games

so i'm at the nuclear plant part where you rescue otacon, the place where the ground level is full of nuclear waste and if anyone shoots a weapon inside the room you all die. i heard the USP's silencer is actually in the tank hanger, the place before the nuclear waste facility. i never got a chance to get it. will i ever have the chance to get a silencer for my USP at this point? or should i start over?

It's a Phase II Mk. 23 (USSOCOM) not a USP in MGS. And you can go back and get it.

Whenever you decide to head back to the Hangar and get that suppressor.

yeah i haven't played the game in over 10 years but i remember you can go back and get it if you didn't get it the first time. gotta jump in a truck or something

ugh i guess i'll restart and use a stupid strategy guide so i don't miss anything. this is the one thing that really pisses me off about the metal gear solid series. many things, some important, some not, are not even on the beaten path half the time. i mean i did a full sweep of the hangar and i guess some event later on triggers it to spawn there. oh i agree and i'm probably gonna do a second and maybe third playthrough. bought it through psn. i've only ever played bits and pieces during my childhood but it really brings back loads of memories. but playing through the game again when you haven't even beaten it on your current playthrough, that just doesn't sit well with me. if i fuck up something along the way i'm not restarting the game or even restarting far back enough. i'll just slog through it because it would be to tedious and repetitive.

Also, there shouldn't be anything blocking your path. You need to go through 3 of those blast doors, the first one you crawl under, the other ones you just open with a keycard.

Wow I am playing MGS4 right now and I am at [sp]Shadow Moses[/sp] The Mk 23 suppressor should be in the tank hangar in some sort of storage closet type thing. I remember seeing a bunch of boxes there. Just try to look around the tank hangar, you don't have to restart the game.

Inside the tank hangar, in the room in the northeastern corner of the main room with the tank.

If you sit inside the trucks with a cardboard box equipped the soldiers will eventually drive off and deliver you to what ever location is on the box.

okay then. i think i'll have to wait till after sniper wolf to get that chance though from what i remember about this game

i got the silencer before sniper wolf thanks to the tips about the trucks and the boxes. i missed probably half the important items, i spent like 40 minutes scouring every nook and cranny of every place i could go so far. i also had to beat sniper wolf twice because i didn't save after i beat her and everyone knows about the no continue thing afterwards...
