• HL2: Where's my freaking Bullsquid?

HL2 was a great game, no question about that. It was well-made, well-planned, and it turned out as awesome as possible. Yet I still have some beefs with the way VALVe set up the alienry. Of all the aliens in the Xen world, we got four different Xen aliens: a head crab (along with 2 new types), an antlion of some sort, a barnacle. And also combines who travel space and happened to visit Xen before they came to us (but Xen isn't their planet of origin). Why nothing else? Am I lead to believe these are the only aliens left on earth? In the leak, there was better aliens, so I have heard. Those are both excellent weapons for what they do, yet the Combine selected a stubby headcrab launcher with inferior power and potency, an expensive vortiguant slave that doesn't do anything, and an extremely poor antlion? VALVe, what were you thinking? There's more, better aliens in Xen and space. Furthermore, why aren't the rebels using these aliens? Even if the Xen had specific reasons for choosing the aliens they sent, I find it hard to believe every single other alien in Xen was killed/not sent. Where did the antlion come from? Evidently, no one knows. Somebody had to have had one, and presumably used it at some point until it escaped in the ground. Why can't I have an Garg for a pet? It makes sense that VALVe would limit selection due to clutter problems, but why not like Smod, where I can get more aliens? Just a rant about the design of the alienry. Anyone else agree that the alien throng seemed to have a limited size, no pun intended?
combines weren't from xen bro but i do agree that hl2 needed a larger focus on aliens, fuck combine got a bit repetitive after a while
Oops, I know that. Where did I say that? I will change it
My family's Alien got jammed alot last time we took it to C17 Its not a bad Alien, we just don't take care of it :( The Houndeye isn't a bad alien either as long as you take care of it, which Combine in C17 initially could/would not because they didn't have cleaning kits or thought it was a some high tech alien that didn't need maintenance.
The events with the resonance cascade caught the attention of the Combine. I wouldn't be surprised if they obliterated Xen on their way to Earth.
No IcyCKryss you're missing the part where the combines put the giant metal rings on the Nihilanth and the Alien Slaves (vortigaunts).
I count the striders and the hunters as aliens too, but you can argue over that of course. And the advisors are also aliens, yet we have to fight them. I think the combines just use what they find on the planet they invade. If they landed on, I don't know, Endor, we'd see combine ewoks running around. I hope you catch my point. But more aliens would be neat.
The combines are not alien, they are simply controlled by the advisors.
Synths, Combine technology combined with organic matter to create a new creature, what they are using as the organic part I do not know, so I guess they could have a bit of Alien in them :v:
I completely disagree. Who cares? Why can't you have a Houndeye? Because we have a goddamn Zombie. Why do the Zombie's use inferior AI? Well, would you want them to have 1337 skills when you only have a none? Where did the ant lion come from? MAYBE SOMEONE DIDN'T WANT IT ANYMORE!

But anyway, I'm talking about aliens from Xen. Surely, since so many went into Black Mesa, there's got to be more that could've come through. [editline]01:44PM[/editline] Also same for the advisors, sure they're alien, but they've got to be the most suckiest alien ever. They're just a space slug with a little mechanical hand thing strapped to their back that you can't fight, because of it's supreme telekinesis powers. But the aliens from Xen were cool because they were all different, and you had to adapt to each one differently. Whereas with the combine it's just shoot or be shot, there wasn't much about it.
The Combine is the HL series version of the Borg. They absorb everything else. That's why they all fight the same way.
They could have at least added back the ictysaur combat.
Parody thread is... Well... Parodoxical? No, that's not it... :/
Parody? I think not sir. Also I forgot the Icthysaurus
This is most defiantly not a parody thread
If anything I want to see which synth is based off what. I suspect the Hunter has something to do with the Houndeye. The big one (crab synth) has to be an antlionguard while the smaller ones are too strikingly similar to the normal antlions that it can't be anything other than it.
Perhaps the area surrounding city 17 happens to not be infested with the bullsquids, houndeyes, grunts, controllers, gargantuas, manta rays, tentacles, chumtoads, mr. friendlies or race x aliens the rest of the world might have to deal with.

Remember, Valve is the only canon decider since it's their game and they put the squids in the city's canals.
Am I the only one that was happy that they took out the Xen aliens from the first half-life for Half-Life 2? After the first game I was pretty much sick of the aliens, and always had more fun killing the marines. So the combine and antlions seemed like a pretty good balance.
Barnacles were already in HL1, except for some reason they didn't hoist you up like an old man, they actually tried to eat you. Same with the crossbow: the darts fly half the speed they did HL1. Also, the combines didn't make a pit stop to pick up a few Xen creatures. They were already stuck on earth with no means of getting back and the combine used that to their advantage.
Less aliens keeps it simple.
The Half-Life 2 Leak was great for seeing the enemies that were cut and they had thier reasons for being cut but i can't see why the BullSquid and the Houndeye should have been removed and not been present in the HL2 series i mean they were a great force to fight during HL1 and it's exapnsions. But the Combine Assassin and the Guard would be great to fight in the next Epsiode or even to see a new enemy based off the Leak ones and i think they should atleast add some new weapons i mean the OICW was a epic weapon. I just don't get why Valve would remove such great enemies...
Its spelt Itchyosaur :eng101:

Those don't need anything to be based off as they could easily be seen as synth technology combined with creatures from another universe that we have yet to see. I think the only synth that we have seen a before and after of would be humans, with the stripped soldier.
I want to see that Synth walker thing that you see while you're in the citadel and when it's walking over the bridge. It's 4 or 6 legged and has big metal plates for legs.
That's the Crab Synth.
Your bullsquid? Well... um.. Actually I'm damn happy with Half Life 2 as it is. I was glad there weren't that many weird creatures.
Anyone else remember when the fast zombies scared the piss out of you?
Ep 1 & 2 made up for it i think. Most of your time was spent battling the aliens instead of combine forces, valve must have realised people weren't happy about little alien interaction
