Is there really a contest here?
I've only played Dante's Inferno and I still voted God of War.
Inferno is nothing compared to gow
Inferno is a competent god of war clone but god of war is god of war what's the point of this thread
I still enjoyed the story of DI over the story of GoW, but the sheer scale and epicness of GoW puts it above DI to me.
When it comes to character, I think that Dante is a bigger badass than Kratos. Kratos dies a lot (but I give him credit for crawling back out of Hades each time), but Dante ripped open the gates of hell, mowed his way through each circle, took down Satan, and left that crater with a few scratches. All to save his girlfriend. That's a true badass.
i agree with snake
GoW obviouslly...
Dante's look good and all,but.....i tried it and it's pretty meh compared to GoW
gotta say though, the art style is so impressive,Dante's is worth it
God of war, more brutality
Dante's Inferno had some great drama going for it. But God of War was the original and the third probably is more epic.
I like both but GoW wins.

Kratos killed everything that walked by him. He defeated multiple gods and ancient horrors riding on nothing but his rage.
look me in the eye and tell me kratos isnt the most badass god-of-love-fucker around
Never played God of War, never had an interest in it, so I voted Inferno because I've played it.
God Of War pwns Dante's Inferno :smug:

Kratos killed everyone.
Seriously.
Poseidon,
Hades,
Hermes,
Hercules,
Fuck, he killed Kronos. A fucking TITAN!
[sp]Also Zeus, but whatever. Zeus was inevitably gunna die. [/sp]
Also, Dante's Inferno is a complete ripoff of GoW gameplay wise. The level structure and puzzles are almost Identical.
GoW looks better than Dante's Inferno. Dante's Inferno is just a demon rape fest. At least GoW has an actually cool storyline to it.
[sp]So the story of GoW is you start out with the Great War (Titant vs. Gods). You kill bunch of gods and also the titans, you get revenge. Each god you kill releases shit into the human world like the plague and storms and stuff. But, without gods mean the people are free to do what they want. No more following orders from god like Kratos did. This is why Kratos killed himself and released "hope" at the end of the game to give people the power to rebuild and start anew without god. yay, i just summarized GoW[/sp]
Doesn't mean it can't be good. And I still think Dante is a better character than Kratos.
Kratos is just eternally pissed. Dante has emotion.

Wow you totally didn't mention the first and second game at all.
Haven't played God of War, but I just now picked up Dante's Inferno. And I must say, Dante's Inferno is most certainly superb. I'm sure if I played GoW, I'd say that. Not sure.
Dante killed the equivalent of all the evils of the world and all his minions using a scythe he stole from Death himself and a holy cross that killed his father. Also, from what I see, GoW was mostly cliffs and temples, but DI had mountains made of flesh, giant forests made of people who killed themselves, and structures constructed out of damned souls.

So, playing GoW 3 for the first time at my buddy's place last night (after I made that post), I'd have to say that Kratos IS a major badass, but I still have to stick with my earlier statement about Dante. Like said above me, Kratos is only rage, and Dante has emotion. Sure, when Kratos dies, he can crawl out of Hades, but when Death comes to claim Dante, he kicks his ass with Death's own scythe! Then, when shit goes down, he fucking DIVES head-first into hell, killing all of the big and little guys as he goes. Also, as he is mowing his way through each circle of hell, he is constantly reminded of the sins he committed, each majorly discouraging him to go on. Despite being a one-man army (Kratos has the Titans on his side for a while at least), he still manages to fuck shit up, and deal with all of his emotions on his way through, and then he kicks Satan's silly little ass in the end.
I mean, in all honesty, Kratos is an awesome character, but I think Dante is more of a badass, in many different aspects.
After playing the demo of Dante's Inferno and never playing a GoW game before I thought it was a bag of shit and just felt slow and really boring.
Bought GoW3 at release and is no comparison for me, beats the shit out of Dante's Inferno.
I don;t even own a PS3 and I chose GoW. Inferno is quite shit in comparison.
I didn't really like how they butchered pretty much the entire plot from the Inferno, and still used Dante's name.
I suppose it wouldn't really have been a game if they had kept the plot, but they could have used the setting and made a different character.

I see the original Divine comedy to played best as an interactive fiction.
>North
>You have entered hell, Virgil greets you.
>South
>You are eaten by a Gluttonous Grue.
I did not like Dante's Inferno. It's good, but it's just "meh".
GoW.

I think it would only be done best as one of those kind of artsy games, unless you make the setting a little different, which I wouldn't mind all that much.
They seem to have done a complete overhaul and just kept the circles and Dante.
I haven't played GOW, but Dante's Inferno was laughably bad. So I'll say GOW.
Dante's Inferno: Sanction
An on-rails guide game where you get talked at about hell by a dead Roman poet.
