My question is does the Steam version of Spore have an installation limit like the retail version?
It's proving really hard to find the answer, and I'm in front of a though decision.
I would also like to know can the installations be increased in a retail Spore that was bought before the installation limit increase?

I found this. Is this what I'm looking for?
The Steam version has no install limit, the retail version has a 5 install limit but you can remove installs from that limit by using the deauth tool after uninstalling Spore.
You can't get spore on steam.
You can, but not in the UK or Japan.
And it doesn't have SecuROM on Steam, no.
I have C&C and Spore bought early and last of the three installations now, and I want GA.
I don't know should I try to get more installations and buy GA retail, or just buy complete pack from Steam, because it would be really nice to have it in Steam.

Deauth = deauthorization? I thought it allows Spore to be installed on a different computer.
The official deauthorization tool page calls it a de-deauthorization tool, isn't that a double negative?

I'm really uncertain what to do in this situation.

Every other site seems to say that deauth tool increases installations.
Basically when you install Spore, you lose one install of the 5, to get it back you have to use that tool before you uninstall Spore, and then uninstall Spore after that, if you run Spore again after using the tool it will take away 1 install again.
That sounds very confusing, and I have only three installations now.
What is it exactly I have to do?

Holy shit, that's some overpiced shit right there. I hate the dollar conversion policy of Steam
Step 1 - Download De-Auth Tool.
Step 2 - Run De-Auth Tool.
Step 2.5 - If you run Spore after Step 2, do Step 2 again.
Step 3 - Uninstall Spore.
Also, you don't lose installs if you format provided that your hardware is mostly the same and that the Windows you install after the format is the same one you had before the format.
Do I install it again then?

I don't get it now, if I don't have Spore installed and none remaining, how can I use the tool?
Again, this is VERY confusing.
You shouldn't need anything for the Steam version

You only do that if you want to uninstall Spore, otherwise you don't need the tool for anything.
Basically Spore has a 5 install limit.
Install & Run Spore on 1 PC -> 5 - 1 = 4
Now lets say you want to uninstall it without losing any installs
De-Auth Tool on the same PC -> 4 + 1 = 5
Then you proceed to uninstall Spore, because if you run it again after running the deauth tool it will remove another install and then you have to run the tool again to get it back.
Buy it then download a crack so you play your game without fucking DRM.
lame! I'm in the UK and I can't see all games :( Why can't we have spore?
Buy it then download a crack so you play your game without fucking DRM.
That doesn't work, you have to install it first in order to use a crack so you lose 1 install anyways, and if you use a crack you can't use the Sporepedia and get stuff from other people or upload your stuff and that's about as much as you'd get if you just pirated it.

EA hate us. :(
Can one activate a retail spore key from the first day on steam? It's currently 800km away so I can't try it
Spore retail keys don't work on Steam.
Do any STEAM games have an install limit?

Some third party games do. if they do, it would be mentioned in the Store page.
