Christopher Nolan has confirmed that he's working in a video game set in the world of his brilliant Leonardo DiCaprio movie, Inception. Nolan had already revealed to CVG earlier this year that he was "looking at" doing a video game tie-in, but now it looks like it's definitely happening. "I always imagined Inception to be a world where a lot of other stories could take place," he told Inside Movies. "At the moment, the only direction we're channeling that is by developing a videogame set in the world," he added, saying that it was a "a longer-term proposition" with a team of collaborators. No developer or any further details were revealed. A sequel movie, on the other hand, seems unlikely. "As for [movie] sequels," he added, "it's not something I want to say no to, but it's not something I've given a lot of thought about."
UPDATE:
Christopher Nolan might be hard at work on Batman's next celluloid outing in The Dark Knight Rises but he's still got a couple of fingers in the Inception pie, confirming he's collaborating on the previously only-rumoured video game version of the movie. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Nolan revealed that while a movie sequel isn't currently on the cards, fans of Inception still have something to look forward to. "I always imagined Inception to be a world where a lot of other stories could take place," he explained, "At the moment, the only direction we're channeling that is by developing a video game set in the world." Apparently, Nolan's been keen to explore gaming for a while, jesting, "A veritable massive multiplayer online role-playing game (as imagined by Carl Jung) would seem to be a perfect for the interactive, non-linear dream world of Inception". However, that's as much as Nolan was prepared to reveal, merely noting that the game was "a longer-term proposition". Any thoughts on what you'd like to see in an Inception game? Minds will be fucked
So much mind fuck will take place...
I can't think of anything that wouldn't just seem like the matrix
When it's released we wake up and it was all a dream
Beating the game returns you to the real world. Which is the dream world. In which you must kill yourself to return to the real real world.
How would this even work?
We will go deeper.
Well it has a chance to not be shit since it isn't a "here make a game and it has to be out as soon as the movie is" kind of movie game.
I hope it's not based on the movie, but maybe a good video game plot, using the different levels of dreams to complete.
Well it has a chance to not be shit since it isn't a "here make a game and it has to be out as soon as the movie is" kind of movie game.
The whole movie can easily be concepted into a game. It will not be shit, but the complete opposite.
good video game plot
Haha, like that's ever going to happen
I imagine opening the box for the game only to find another box and then another.
Sandbox plz
Haha, like that's ever going to happen
Are you saying there has never been a video game with a plot? or never a movie based video game with a good plot?
I imagine opening the box for the game only to find another box and then another.
And then when you find the disc, it turns into snakes. And the snakes form more boxes.
And then when you find the disc, it turns into snakes. And the snakes form more boxes.
And then you realize, you are already in the game. You are only finding the second disc.... to go deeper.
two consoles are needed to play this game
And then when you find the disc, it turns into snakes. And the snakes form more boxes.
Rated box. Wait I just rated myself box.
I can't see this ending well. But I'll stay optimistic until they release the screenshots of a generic third person shooter.
Rated box. Wait I just rated myself box.
is this how you got your 4600 posts?
Well, at least we know who isn't making it. http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1032568-EA-Not-Interested-in-More-Movie-Games
So it's like a taco inside a taco inside a Taco Bell inside a KFC?
is this how you got your 4600 posts?
Yes, are you jealous of my virtual success?
yes
Ok.
"Movie to Game" type games tend to suck bad. They're made by developers nobody has heard of and use 10 year old engines that look like crap.
Ok.
I will destroy you
Free Roam multiplayer would be so awesome. a man can dream.
I literally reality-checked after reading the OP.
