I have been playing for a while made some good money mining, mass trading , manufacturing , and missions now i have come down to a stopping point. i still don't have enough money to buy a good ship. So my question is scene mostly all this ships in eve are so expensive what ship should i save up for and what skills would i need for them? i'm thinking about cross training ship skills but i want to stick with Caldari ships please help me
Umm... are you trying to get further into missions or mining? That's a very important detail.

"Don't buy what you can't afford." You're better off at finding a way to make a lot of ISK. Do what I did and salvage out in Amarr space. After salvaging and looting several Level 4s, I can rake in around 50-80 mil. But maybe I'm just lucky. My friend said I could salvage and loot his missions and keep it all. I doubt that's a regular thing. (And I doubt he'll gank me, too. I've known him since '04.)
Caracal, grab some Heavy missile launchers for it, cap flux coils etc. and active tank it. Make sure your capacitor skills are good.
Use EVEMon, it'll tell yah.
You want a cruiser, caracal BC: Drake BS: Raven
You can manage with a Merlin for a long while once you get it fitted well. It's no Rifter but it works.

Cheap, fairly agile and tough, mounts decent kit, Taking on other ships of it's class, it performs really well My Tactic with them was have an Afterburner and short range weaponry, get in real close and dish out the damage, too close for those with the 20km ranged Railguns to hit you
Go straight for the Drake, it totaly rule. and for the frig i suggest Kestrel and the Caracal as a Cruiser
I myself went with the Caracal and didn't regret it one bit.
Drake totally rule for solo missioning, did Solo lvl 4 with my Drake

I was brought into EVE by a few long time players, I guess I'm still considered a noob, yet am in a cruiser ATM. This is what I did, worked well. Get out of your ibis ASAP. I reccomend a Kestrel or the Condor, Kestrel is a missile boat, Condor is prety adaptable. I chose good ole Kessie and stuck with it. Run some missions, get to know people. Learn aslvaging right off and salvage / loot your missions. It may take a while, but all that salvaged goods which may seem like junk, can be put together to make rigs, which are highly valuable. Thus, sell the salvage unless you are looking for something specific. Ifyour a noob, you shouldn't rig anything smaller than a BC, and a BC is pushing it. Once you have your skills for your chosen frigate done, get in the cormorant. it's an amazing mission runner. I fit mine with a mix between 125's and 150 railguns with Antimatter charges. This lets you keep about 2 rails on about 4 different ship, if you cna't kill one, concentrate more fire on him. Make sure you have shield extenders, Caldari should ALWAYS shield tank, it's in the nature of the caldari and the ships. Next, after you have mastered your Cormorant, move to the Caracal. Once again, a missile boat. Caldari loves their missiles. And for good reason. a classic fit is heavy missiles all across with Thunderbolt charges. EVEMon is your friend for plotting out what skills to train. EFT is also good, because you can fit ships with no risk. You can see how well your DPS, tank, etc. will hold up on your fits. so you don't go spending all your ISK on trying to find the perfect fit. One last thing. train up some learning skils, they're quite useful at making your skills train faster. I am technically still a eve neoob, but, hope this helps.
I have the ferox. It's a piece of shit because you can't use it in low level missions, and I couldn't find any better missions. :bang:
I had an Osprey, I left it mining for like 15 seconds to get something to drink, and when I returned I was already dead. :(
20 something days in and my noob ship is a raven lovin it
20 something days in and my noob ship is a raven lovin it
How well can you fly it though? I could get to a Titan in about 6 months. Yet to actually fly it well, and get the max out of it, DPS, tank, etc. then it'd take a bit longer. and, I highly doubt you can get into a raven in 20 days. I do believe the skills from noob ibis to raven would take a month or two, haven't renewed my sub in a while so I'm not up to snuff on skilltimes.
Getting into the Raven is one thing, but using the Raven to its full capacity is another. You'll need good tanking modules, most likely Tech II, as well as guns. To max out your DPS and tank requires finite skills that are off the beaten path. I'm over two months old, and I just got into a Drake. Then again, it's got all Tech II fittings, with a day or two left on the guns. Anyway, my suggestions for a good basic 'noob' ship would have to be the Kestrel frigate, a Caracal cruiser, a Drake battlecruiser, or a Raven class battleship. It depends on where you are along the skill training time line, but if you're a month or so in, I'd suggest a Caracal, with a possibility of a Drake, depending on how finite your skill set is. As for mining, a good Caldari mining frigate is a Bantam, followed up by the Osprey cruiser, then you'd want to move into a mining barge, but that's beyond a 'noob' ship. If you'd like to follow mining, go with the Osprey, then follow it up with a mining barge, but for mission running, go ahead with the Caracal to Drake path.
all the modules on it were t2 and currently im training missile launcher 5, so ill be at cruise missiles and soon cruise missile t2 and ill be able to plow through lvl 4s like nothing. it's really more of a problem of cash because of rigs and everything than skills.
Kestrel is god tier. After a kestrel, get a Caracal.
thanks guys i went with the drake. its a awesome ship
thanks guys i went with the drake. its a awesome ship
Isn't it the best battlecruiser of any faction?
Do you just quicksell the loot or do you take the time to set up prices and so for each item?
I take the time to set up the prices. Determine what is best to refine, what is best to sell, blah blah blah.
Do you just quicksell the loot or do you take the time to set up prices and so for each item?
If an item costs more than 25k isk, I feel is worth it to set a price. If it's worth less than that, then I feel that I'm losing isk by taking the extra time to set the price up in the first place.
I didn't much like the Drake, well I did, but when I got in it CCP had just nerfed Missiles :( Merlin is my choice for small Fighters just going out Rat Hunting and whatnot, Reason being, it's Cheap, I was never rich in EvE, I think I have around 60mil Isk on my account, To Buy a merlin and kit it out with new stuff, it would cost maybe 300k or so, with Insurance, you could get the next one for a bit less, It's just a poor man's solution I suppose, not to mention the damn thing is sexy as fuck anyway For what it is, it can hold it's own against other ships like it, Like I said in another post, I like to get close with an afterburner, 1,000m and less if Possible, and eat them up with AutoCannons
I didn't much like the Drake, well I did, but when I got in it CCP had just nerfed Missiles :(
Now the Drake is a beast in pvp and in some cases, ratting. It's fast regen rate can take a lot of damage and it has enough missile slots and low slots to do decent amounts of damage.
I went with Kestrel and bought some missiles
This thread is starting to annoy me, I keep seeing alot of the word "best". In eve online there is no "best" one ship can always outdo another. If you want "better" and "best" go and play WoW.
Now the Drake is a beast in pvp and in some cases, ratting. It's fast regen rate can take a lot of damage and it has enough missile slots and low slots to do decent amounts of damage.
Drake is more known for PvE than PvP, like most Caldari ships.
