Command & Conquer (often abbreviated as C&C or CnC) is a video game franchise, mostly of the real-time strategy style as well as a first-person shooter game based on the former. The Command & Conquer series was initially developed by Westwood Studios between 1995 and 2003, with development being taken over by Electronic Arts with the liquidation of Westwood Studios in 2003.
Pretty much Command and Conquer is ether the biggest or second biggest RTS franchise and in my opinion far better then say starcraft so I decided to make a mega thread on it.
Older games:

Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn, released on August 31, 1995, was the first game in the series and is widely considered as the title which originally defined and popularized the real-time strategy genre.Command & Conquer introduced the warring factions of the Global Defense Initiative (GDI) and the Brotherhood of Nod.

Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun, released August 27, 1999, takes place approximately 30 years after the events in its predecessor. While the original Command & Conquer's plot was centered around an allegorical world politics setting, Tiberian Sun shifted this to a more sci-fi-like setting against the apocalyptic background of Tiberium beginning to assimilate vast portions of the Earth's ecosystems.

Command & Conquer: Red Alert, released on October 31, 1996, is set in an alternate universe 1950s and was originally made to be the prequel to Command & Conquer establishing Red Alert as the prologue of the entire Tiberium series of games.

With the release of Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 on October 23, 2000, and that game's lack of reference to the Tiberian series, the connection established in the first Red Alert game became unclear. Opinion on whether or not the time travel events of the series were forming a separate continuity or just another side adventure on the way to the Tiberian era was divided.
Red Alert 3: Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 is a 2008 real-time strategy video game developed by EA Los Angeles and published by Electronic Arts. Announced on February 14, 2008, it was released on October 28, 2008 in the United States for Microsoft Windows-based PCs and three days later in Europe Red Alert 3 retains the core RTS mechanics of the Command & Conquer series. Warring factions harvest resources using vulnerable collectors and then use those resources to construct military bases and forces on-site. Structures form a shallow but wide tech tree with a variety of units and elusive superweapons.
The game received mostly positive reviews, with reviewers citing the co-operative and multiplayer components as strengths, along with the enhanced role of naval combat compared to other real-time strategy games. Commonly cited weaknesses included aspects such as unit pathfinding.

No one likes C&C I guess.
Everything before Command & Conquer 3 was a memorable game for me. Shame the new games don't give me anything like that now.
(Unlimited money in Generals was SOOO much fun)
Everything after Generals, sucked ass. C&C4 was a fucking joke, a real insult to the series.
I will never forgive them for killing C&C. Never. I loved every game, even Renegade. C&C 4 is one of the worst rts I ever played. Even Red Alert 3, while in a lot of ways staying true to the formula, didn't do it for me.

There is a reason It was not included in the mega thread.

Oh and next game is Gen 2 called it.
I used to play this game series, hell, I got TFD. I don't play it now because I am trying to save money and get a new computer.
I always liked to damage a conyard, then retreat my team out of the base and use the Ion Cannon or Nuke to destroy it. Especially the C&C3 Ion Cannon.
Hopefully they don't screw up the next game(which is most likely Gen 2).

I desperately hope the next game is a decent Generals Sequel.
So much fun playing Generals...
Still got the original C&C disks around. My favourite game of the bunch.
Doesn't matter to me what anyone says about EA, while it was heartbreaking having Westwood die as I spent my life playing RA2 and Tiberium Sun, EA has done really well with the new series like RA3 and C&C3 and keeping them fun
(Although I do pretend 4 isn't part of the series)

where the fuck were my walls
RA3 had walls, although they were pretty much useless

Its keeps out terror drones and spies.
Get Act of War: Direct Action & High Treason to satisfy your hunger for a new Generals. :3:
Chances are that the franchise is dead now since C&C4 was such a flop.

C&C4 wasn't a flop, it was what gave EA a good reason to cancel the entire series once and for all. They intended for it to be a complete failure.
EA may be making a new game with their new Victory Games office, but even if they it'll take a lot to gain back fans after the disaster they created.
I always loved conquering an enemies base in C&C, never fully destroying them but slowly assimilating them into my ranks. Especially in Yuri's Revenge.
Fuck I really need to reinstall my saga.

Best music in the entire series, hands down.

Except not part of series.
Mad Rap <3
I liked Red Alert 3 :saddowns:
And the Order of Release is
Command & Conquer
Command & Conquer Red Alert
Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun
Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun Firestorm
Command & Conquer Red Alert 2
Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge
Command & Conquer Renegade
Renegade was fun. Just wish it was less buggy and had less lag on multiplayer games.
There is a free stand-alone mod called A Path Beyond that is based on the engine Renegade, its pretty good. Its the Renegade version of Red Alert 1, I think they are going to release the Gamma version soon, I am not too sure. But the only things that bug me in that game is, the weird warping I get sometimes when I enter buildings, I presume this is the networking coding at fault, and not the mod at fault.

Gamma is long out.
Get it at:

And yeah, Renegade's netcode is... strange. Expect to drive into lots of trees.
And oh my god I'm having so much fun playing Mental Omegas Almost Perfect Yuri's Revenge.
I loved Tiberian Sun as a Kid, still play a lot of those old CnC games today.
Command & Conquer Red Alert + Retaliation on PS1 was my fucking childhood.
I remember buying Command & Conquer First Decade for $100, played it on my old computer, laptop and new computer.
Red Alert 3 & C&C 4 suck.
I remember excitedly buying the issue the PC Gamer with Red Alert 3 on the cover, only to have my interest die after reading about how every other unit was going to be amphibious.
I still play Generals and Red Alert 2 regularly, a lot of fun.
"The first decade" must be one of my best purchases ever.
Why include Generals but not Renegade? I can see why you'd ignore C&C 4 and pretend it doesn't exist though.
C&C 3 gets a lot of flak, but I thought it was fantastic; great environments and really immersive.
C&C 4 on the other hand...Jesus wept...
