Well, xbox finally red ringed after so many years. Anyone know how to fix the E-74 error, or should I just buy a new one?
Under warrenty = send back to M$
My 360 is THREE times as hardcore as yours
It's easier and cheaper to send it off to microsoft.
It's easier and cheaper to send it off to microsoft.
It's free actually. And you usually get a free month of gold.
Yeah I got the RROD, Microsoft sends a box, you pack it up, use their sticker, send it away .... and wait for it to come back home
E-74 error is unfixable unless you send it to xbox and get a new xbox or components.
Google could've answered this.

buy a PS3 avoid stuff like this
Super poo, I might be able to help you fix the error, I fixed 2 xbox 360's which had red ring errors, one which experienced both e 73 and e 74, and another xbox which had 3 red rings. I'm currently at school so I don't have enough time to explain the steps, but I think I might be able to help after, as long as you don't mind voiding the warranty. If you have a warranty, just send it in, although I'm not sure which error microsoft will fix for free: e73 or e74. [editline]08:52AM[/editline] And it's not cheaper to send it in unless they will fix it for free, as the only tools you need to fix xbox errors are a t10 and a t8 screw driver, Isopropal Alcohol, Pennies, electrical tape/regular tape, and thermal paste. [editline]08:52AM[/editline] Compare that to $150 to send it in
I got this error about 3 times when I had my 360, just resetting it would get rid of it, then I sold it to a mate for £150
My roommate got the E-74 error. He fixed it by removing the DVD-drive and mounting it ontop of the xbox, which allows air to go through the slit where the tray was and let the xbox cool off. Apparently the DVD-drive is mounted right on top of the CPU and GPU.

I want a fucking PS3.
I want a fucking PS3.
Get a PC instead. [editline]12:09AM[/editline] Plus sent to Microsoft for repairs. There is no such thing as free repairs if the warranty has expired.
Modern consoles are overated anyway, just stick to your sega or N64.
Actually because of a lawsuit against them, you can now send your console back to Microsoft regardless of warranty with the red ring and they will fix it for free. Sign in here and then request a repair.
yeah, for one of them, cant remember which, as long as you didnt fuck with it, they have to fix it for forever. I would also suggest getting a fan that only costs like $20
Yeah I got the RROD, Microsoft sends a box, you pack it up, use their sticker, send it away .... and wait for it to come back home
Or, in the US, just take your Xbox with the printed shipping label to a UPS store and you can have them pack it up and send it. They do charge for it, but not much.
buy a PS3 avoid stuff like this
That would be the common answer for the on-going console war... Be helpful and keep your console fanboy love elsewhere...
That would be the common answer for the on-going console war... Be helpful and keep your console fanboy love elsewhere...
It's true though, the PS3 is more stable. [editline]03:10AM[/editline] but it's got no gaemz :downs:
Google could've answered this.
They suggested wrapping it with towels and making it overheat, I fail to seee how this would've helped. I'm going to send it away, better NOT cost anything... :(
