Right, so. My brothers nurse asked me earlier if I had heard of some new game called Homefront. She said it was something like Call of Duty meets Fallout, sorta. I hadn't so I looked it up, and it looks pretty interesting. Apparently the game play is supposed to have been inspired by Half Life 2, and is set in the year 2027. Sounds awesome. It's being made by Kaos Studios who made Frontlines: Fuel of War. I've never played it, and don't know anything about it, so right now I'm pretty hopeful but I'm sure you all think it's shit. Like the title says "The game is written by John Milius, who co-wrote Apocalypse Now and wrote Red Dawn." I just might be sold on that point. The game story goes something like this: In 2012 Kim Jong Il dies and his son Kim Jong Un takes over. He then reunites North and South Korea in 2013. A couple years later, gas shoots up to $20 a gallon in the US and then the dollar collapses. The US military pulls out of every foreign country and then Japan surenders to the "Greater Korean Republic" becoming a Vassal state. GKR annexes Asia, launches a Communications Satellite with an EMP bomb hidden in it and blows it up over the US, destroying the countries infrastructure. They capture Hawaii and then gain a foothold on the west coast, and the US military is scattered. And that's where the game picks up.
The publisher is THQ, who has already announced plans for a Sequel, Homefront: London which kinda kills it for me. From what I saw on the homepage, there don't seem to be very many weapons or vehicles which has me a little worried. I'm hoping they will announce some more.

The single player is claimed to be reminiscent of Half Life 2 with the guerrilla fighting and what not, while the Multiplayer is going to be more like large scale warfare.
I think it's demo is released on Xbox 360/ect, but I don't have any batteries in my controller at the moment so I'll take a peak later. :frown:

I'm really pumped for this game.
Hopefully the multiplayer will be fun, and hopefully the singleplayer will be at least like 8 hours.
I hadn't heard of this game until I looked it up and I'm already excited for it.
It doesn't look too great in my opinion. It looks too much like every other shooter out there.
Too bad that HL2 leak scene wasn't even in the full game.
I want it to be good but it probably won't be.

Yeah, I just remember it from my box of Half life 2.
this looks like such an awesome game
I think it looks like CoD, but with Korean and some years in the future, is that just me?
Otherwise I think it looks good, might be something to rent.
I honestly thought it was Modern Warfare 2 the first ten seconds or so. (second video)
Hell yeah for terrible Sentence structure. English class served me well.
Well it being written by the guy who wrote Red Dawn should at least give it above mediocre writing.
Does look like a fun game though.
Is there a campaign in which you play as NK?
Was red dawn the one with "Wolverines" in it?
Set in Colorado?
If so, I loved it.

Wait, hang on, I remember seeing something about this game in Game Informer magazine, I might scan it in later.
It was about the Multiplayer, it was praised greatly for its graphics and gameplay.
I heard this game was going to be released first as part 1, then the rest as DLCs.

What? Isn't that about some racing game by codemasters? This is Homefront, A first person Shooter by THQ.
I hope this is good because I plan on getting it.
Looks good, but storyline seems stupid and is missing things that would happen in that situation
I was hoping you being a resistance fighter would lead to some interesting new weapons and tactics so I checked out some gameplay and I see that your melee attack is a swift knife attack. :sigh:
The gameplay shown in the multiplayer preview looks so similiar to the new CoD installements. Weapons look the same, like the whole graphical aspect of the game. Furthermore it uses this shitty font when you kill someone and it just seems a ripoff.
Hope that I'm wrong and that the game offers something unique. Looks like a mix between CoD, Frontlines Fuel of War and Battlefield though.
Hopefully this game has you starting as ordinary citizen and having the player going throught the main character's daily life for a whole day or so, so you have good time to get the immersion of how the shit has gone down. Because I hated how short was your stay in the C17 in half life 2, being beaten by metrocops was fun

Yeah, hopefully it will be immersive and I hope that the campaign isn't to short, there's nothing more shitty than a short campaign.
Thinking of getting this because trying to unlock all the skins for my weapons in COD4 is getting boring.
I'm secretly hoping that there's a level where you go all Redneck Rampage on the Koreans : riding one of those drivable lawnmowers a beer in one hand, shotgun in the other with your pasty flabby gut hanging out from your XXL trucker t-shirt, blasting commies to hell while yelling "Eat Freedom, you dang dirty commie bastards ! [img_thumb]http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/Smilies/emot-bahgawd.gif[/img_thumb]
But seriously, looks like a decent rental at least. If the campaign is 8+ hours, might pick it from the bargain bin some day although since my only option is the PC version, I'll check what kind of DRM it uses.
Too bad it's "just" a normal fps, would'be absolutely loved something like Freedom Fighters to come out of a subject matter like this.

I heard that the advancement of singleplayer and multiplayer (which would both be story orientated) would be released as DLCS later on.

If my memory serves me, your character is a policeman who used to be in the military.
I really like the premise of the game. Wars on U.S soil are rarely done, which is why I liked MW2's story and why Homefront looks awesome.
Looking forward to this game. It's a nice change from all of the other modern shooters in terms of location.
Am I the only one who really likes the premise of it? I mean, US going down the shitter, Glorious Nation invades and US fights back?
I see a Freedom Fighters relation here. Kinda.
World in Conflict much?
Animations look kind of ugly.
