The original "Dead Space" was a great blend of survival horror, puzzle-solving and action. Sure, it got a little redundant after the whole monster-jumping-out-of-the-vent technique was used for seventh time, but really, there wasn't too much to complain about. Apart from adding multiplayer, "Dead Space 2" is really all about polishing the basic gameplay of the original. Fully 3D zero grav maneuverability, more action sequences, better graphics, that sort of thing.
Even if it won't be reinventing the wheel, I can't help but be impressed every time I've seen the game. The first time was at this year's E3, which featured some slow, scary parts, some brain-churning puzzles and some very fast, holy-crap-how-am-I-still-alive parts. Even though it was a demo, the pacing felt just right.
But you don't have to take my word for it. EA will be releasing a demo for "Dead Space 2" on December 21 for Xbox Live and PSN. It's actually the exact same demo that was shown at E3. Bad news for me, since I already played it, but good news for you!
Presuming it is the exact same demo as was shown during E3, you can expect it to run around 10-15 minutes, depending on your ability/inability to solve puzzles in zero gravity. You'll also be able to try out one of the game's new weapons: the Javelin gun. Guess what? It shoots javelins! I didn't find it quite as useful as the line gun, but for large, slow-moving enemies, it seemed to do the trick, pinning them to the wall with plenty of satisfying viscera.
Even if you didn't totally love the original "Dead Space," it's worth giving the demo a look. I think the developers are doing some pretty impressive things with interactive cutscenes, basically blowing the "God of War" button-based quick time events out of the water. Plus it's free.
scratch that -- cool, whatever.
I'm honestly excited...What else is coming out this month? I honestly can't name anything I'm interested in.
Christmas?
No PC?
I was getting excited.
Another brilliant marketing move, now people can easily use the 'to try before buy' excuse when pirating this game.

In a way that's probably because they know people will pirate the game to "try" it even if there's a demo that they don't even bother releasing one on PC.
Sweet cant wait.
Wait.. Wasn't Dead Space 2 released like over a year ago?

What?
No PC :colbert:
Why?!
Shit, I still need to finish the first one
That's a day before my birthday, early birthday present!
What?
Maybe "No" would be the proper answer.
Sweet. I'm interested in seeing how they implemented Isaac's voice acting
Absolutely loved the first, and this next one looks very promising.
To anyone who has never played Dead Space, do it. It's amazing even to people who aren't a fan of horror games - like me.
In my opinion, the multiplayer looks like bullshit. But from what I've seen the singleplayer will be strong and atmospheric as always.

Multiplayer? In Dead Space 2?

What's with all the confusion in this thread? :ohdear:
I know I'm going to get DS2 anyway because I loved the first game, but a demo is always nice. :buddy:
Why the fuck can't the PC have a demo? The fuck is this bullshit, we have content delivery systems like Steam and (shudder) EADM too. Not to mention these really innovative new things called 'websites' which you can upload 'files' to.
I don't fucking care if this comes on EADM I want a demo on the PC...
I bet the DS2 for PC is gonna be a cheap ass port. I hope I'm wrong.
DS1 actually seemed to be a pretty good port IMO. Apart from the really weird aiming system that just doesn't work with a mouse very well it still looked and played quite nicely.
Somewhat disappointing the DS2 demo won't be on PC, but honestly, I'm not surprised. I won't go on a tangent about how PC games aren't "Speshul" anymore, because anyone who does that just looks like an obsessive twat, but I will say that I've gotten used to PC getting less extra content than consoles.
Eh EA is one company that's ok at PC ports, since they're not complete idiots and realize that people don't exactly appreciate when you treat them like a lower-class
I liked the first one a lot so I'm looking forward to this.

Do you people expect EVERY SINGLE GAME to be on PC? jesus christ

The game is being released on PC, so a lack of PC demo is strange. I couldn't care though, I'll just watch a few videos of it post-release and make my own judgment as to whether I should purchase it

I got access to the Multiplayer Beta on PS3, And it's so much fun.

God forbid us lowly PC gamers could expect a PC demo for a PC game :downs:
