(Thanks picklesnipe) Holy shit holy shit holy shit. Now that I've calmed myself. Let me show you the GREATEST BEST GAME ON THE FACE ON THE EARTH THAT IS COMING OUT IN 2012. Napoleonic Wars is basically going to be the retail version of the Mount&Musket mod for Warband. The developers are working their asses off day and night to bring us a polished and beautiful version of Mount&Musket. We're talking proper musicians that give morale boosts and have different songs per faction, Austria!!!!, square formations that actually work against cavalry charges, and an extremely accurate arsenal of weapons for each side. Not to mention new network code so even lower end PC's can handle the 250 man line battles. Mount&Musket: The Mod Don't know what Mount&Musket is? Well basically it's a mod that contains four factions circa 1812. The surly and drunk British, The surly and horny French, the surly and angry Prussians, and the surly and in numbers Russians. It has a jolly massive community filled with all stalks of internet life, Goons, Redditors, and all the regiments inbetween. We all amass on Fridays and Tuesday (if you're American) for huge organized linebattles (we usually need two 200+ servers!) where we get assigned regiments and join our respective VOIP clients and command our regiments in coalition with the other regiments placed on your team to victory. We all obey the actual moral code and honor that was seen in the Napoleonic wars. We don't crouch if we're not a Skirmisher faction, we don't use two guns, and we don't dare disobey orders from our commander unless we want to get shot in the back like dogs. Hell you can raise your sword in the air as an officer and an enemy officer will face you in GLORIOUS DUELS. There's the cavalry, infantry, and artillery. Not to mention the in-roles like drummers, flautists, captains, rankers, and flag bearers. All huge factors in who wins these big battles. One out of place commander could get his line killed and leave the rest of the faction with a huge numbers disadvantage because of it. It's fucking amazing fun and you should try it (theres also pubs!). If you're European linebattles happen on Saturdays, they're a bit strict though in comparison to the American battles. If you want to take part in this all you need this the latest version of Mount&Musket (here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/mount-and-musket-battalion-mod) and a battalion (here: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?board=192.0). Someone can make a Facepunch battalion and get you all into the battles, but I'm already tied in with a unit (sorry! D:) Here's a video of typical linebattle life; Retail game info starts here Now onto Napoleonic Wars, since I'm lazy and theres no point in me retyping this, here's a short summary of whats new
Napoleonic Wars is a multiplayer DLC (Downloadable Content) expansion pack for Mount & Blade: Warband featuring the last years of the Napoleonic Wars. Rule Britannia! [editline]31st March 2012[/editline] Also. Will it have SP support?
Well they list it as a multiplayer expansion, so I doubt it, which is a shame really. SP could be awesome fun. [editline]31st March 2012[/editline] Dunno how it'd work though considering you can't be some lone renegade.
You'd be a commander. And mount and blade has had built in line formation for years.
You'd be a commander. And mount and blade has had built in line formation for years.
I figured that, but I mean the whole thing about the M&B singleplayer is that you just pick up random units and companions and build your army, so unless they drastically changed SP it'd be weird.
typical training this DLC is an instabuy for me
We already got a Mount And Blade General thread, that gets a post once a year. We don't need 2 threads.
We already got a Mount And Blade General thread, that gets a post once a year. We don't need 2 threads.
The community for M&M Battalion is totally different from native/C:RPG. I'd say it's completely justifiable.
This looks cool. With you need to be in a unit for it to be fun, or can you still just go to random public servers and fuck around while still getting shit done?
Oh god damn it, I just resigned from my regiment. Looks like I'll be back soon :(
This looks cool. Being in a legit regiment would be a much better experience though.
Hello, I'm Refleax, just another guy helping out people get introduced to our growing NW community. It makes me happy to see so much interest in this DLC so I'll be visiting this thread from time to time and do my best in answering any questions you may have. You are also welcome to join us on IRC http://webchat.quakenet.org/ at #NapoleonicWars and on Steam http://steamcommunity.com/groups/napoleonicwars. Napoleonic Wars is a Multiplayer DLC only. It will feature a new game mode "Commander Battle" which will incorporate both the single-player and multiplayer elements by allowing people to fight as commanders leading a set ammount of bots.
Best feature is the ability for the musicians to finally be able to move and play their instruments. The question is... where the fuck do I preorder?

Awesome!
good they fixed the musician problem where you couldn't play music and march at the same time.
in other news, they also reworked loads of warband features, like animation systems and stuff [editline]31st March 2012[/editline] and overhead polearm/bayo attack isn't silly anymore, yey
the only problem I have is I'm not sure how to aim in the game at a distance close up is fine because the guy is basically in the triangle but at range which part of the triangle is best to position your sights on? [editline]31st March 2012[/editline] engineers look sexy too in the new update and holy shit destructible terrain
