I was considering getting a 3DS after semester finals for; A). they are fairly cheep and B). I need something for the travel in and out from work. Any suggestions on games or upcoming games like madden or pokemon or something? or should I shell-out an extra €100.00 for a PS vita?
Why get either, neither of them have a great deal of games out at the minute.
PS vita and then get persona 4 golden.
The 3DS in the long run would probably be best. But there's very little games at the moment for it, December looks to be kind to the 3DS though.
Really depends on the games you like, but chances are the 3DS lineup is going to be better in the long run.
If the Vita, wait for the price drop. It is coming, be patient. As for games, currently both systems aren't very strong in that department though you may find 3DS more enjoyable for the time being. As of right now, despite Vita games being cheaper, I feel they are that way for a reason. Most are gimmicky and they don't use the gimmicks properly. Others aren't available outside of Japan. There are probably 5 good 3DS titles, and another 3-5 Vita titles. Just a matter of preference. Fyi, the 3DS is expected to go up in price so if you don't already have one you better get to steppin.
Thanks all. 3DS it is so
I'd say the Vita but wait for the price drop, might be a sale in summer?
For 3DS: Kid Icarus Uprising Ocarina Of Time Super Street Fighter 4 Mario Kart 7 These are already out and all are very good. I also have StarFox and Pilotwings, which are also fun to play. On the eShop, you can find some good classics as well as some very fun download titles.
I say PS vita because the moment it gets hacked you can play your PS1 games on it. And that is why i love my PsP.

Was walking through town and spotted Madden 3DS for sale and picked it up new for €15, Thats not bad... all I need now is a 3DS. People know where the cheapest ones are? I was told Tesco...
Vita games are $40, as are most new 3DS games (some are $30), so they're hardly cheaper.
Where I live the price difference is something like this. $29.99 - $39.99 for Vita games $39.99 - $49.99 for 3DS games It's small, but it's still there.
Vita by far. It's literally better in every way, I own both and am happy, but if I had to make the call the 3ds would be the first to go out the window as all's it has is remakes/rehashes and the like. If you want newer IP's and more mature games (in a literal sense not just nintendo is for kids) then vita is the way to go. 3DS: Standard screens, works with old DS games, though older DS games are shrunken down a bit and that's kinda annoying. Friend codes are required of course and uh, that's about it for features, swapnotes kinda fun (send doodles to friends n stuff) Zelda Ocarina of Time (Slightly better textures on a old game you've probably already beaten) Star Fox 64 (Same as Zelda) Super Mario 3D Land (Genuinely good but, it's Mario, are you surprised? Levels are kinda short but it does some cool things with the 3D and is genuinely pretty fun if not a little slow) Mario Kart 7 (It adds enough to make it okay, but online is currently busted and can get old with the lack of modes. Online is filled with cheaters who use a exploit to inflate their score and the gliding/swimming is mostly cosmetic.) Paper Mario (No release date or info given) Kid Icarus Uprising: (Hilarious single player story, but online is filled with one hit kill weapons, and controls can be pretty intrusive, dashing is far to easy to do and on land segments it's not unlikely for you to get flung off a cliff due to the controls, works against the circle pad rather then with it) Luigi's Mansion: (Same boat as Paper Mario, reports say the controls are ass atm) Mario Tennis Open: (It's Mario Tennis. I plan on getting it but it's pretty simple, added a mode where you can play through some of the original mario bros with a tennis ball, and that's about it's biggest draw. Features costumes so you can mess with stats on your mii) Resident Evil Revelations: (Fantastic RE game if you have circle pad pro, without it I'm not so sure, story is pretty hammy but hey, Resident Evil. Genuinely creepy at times and has a share of action scenes for people who want it, loads of content and the online co-op is fun as hell (though it does kind of hit a wall once everything is unlocked) Vita: OLED glass screen that looks fucking amazing, I want this screen on everything in my house it's so good. Friends are handled as you'd expect from something not nintendo with chatrooms and voice support, has skype as well if that's to much for you. Touch screen causes finger prints but other then that it works fine, the control sticks are much better then the pad on the 3DS and you can take screenshots of any game you're playing and upload it at will to your computer which is hella cool. Trophy support for most games and a streetpass feature like on the 3ds. Only real problem is the memory card costs which is kinda retarded right now. Soul Sacrafice: (Keiji Inafune of Megaman fame is making this, brutal dark souls/monster hunter type game where you use your spine as a sword and use your body parts as weapons, brutal and insane, competitive-ish co-op where if a friend falls you can offer up your friends body for new spells to power yourself up. custom characters allowed) Ragnarok Odyssey: (Based off that dumb MMO, though thankfully plays nothing like it, super fast and deep customizable combat and 4 player online co-op, plays like Devil May Cry and Monster hunter, custom characters allowed) Gravity Rush: (New IP, reportedly pretty short but fun to fuck around with, you complete missions in a amazing looking world able to control gravity at will and fly around and beat the hell out of things, making up combos on the fly and using gravity to fight as well) Disgaea 3: (Same as the ps3 version in story, but they added 4 new stories, every bit of dlc that was on the ps3 (all DLC, and chapters and gamemodes) and added so much more it's unreal and it's a absolute must have for owners of the original game or fans of the genre of SRPG's) Uncharted GA: (Not as good as the console versions but still manages to be fun, enemies are a bit of a bulletsponge problem but other then that it's a cool adventure.) Rayman Origins: (It's just a good game okay?? They added some backstory to Rayman and Globox in the port as well as ghost races you can share with friends online) and more.
i bought a ps vita on launch day i still cry myself to sleep over it
The fan inside me wants to say the Vita, but at this time there's not really any amazing games that are a must have, even Golden Abyss is just passable. Vita I feel is definitely the superior handheld in terms of overall design. The screen is gorgeous and big, and I find that it's probably the most comfortable handheld I've played (As compared to the 3DS below). 3DS on the other hand feels like a safer bet because it has more games. I find it a bit underwhelming design wise. The system is small, which is nice since it is supposed to be a portable, but it really cramps up my hands after awhile playing with it. Nintendo also made a mistake by releasing the 3DS with just one stick. Sure they have the Circle Pad Pro, but that's an extra investment, and developers will still have to design games in mind for all the millions of units without it. I'd recommend investing in the Vita only if you don't mind investing for the future. It already has a few decent games worth playing and has more to play then the 3DS did at the same time in its launch, and has quite a few promising games coming out in the next couple of months (Little Big Planet, Gravity Rush, Soul Sacrifice, Resistance Burning Skies) as well as some ports (Metal Gear Collection, Persona 4 Golden). 3DS is the safe option. While I don't feel the 3DS is as great a successor in Nintendo's handheld line, it already has great games available right now, and this year they're releasing Paper Mario, Kingdom Hearts, and fucking Luigi's Mansion 2.
