Will ArmA 2 ever come to consoles ? Everyone says that it will come out on consoles but its been a while and we still have no confirmed evidence or release date. http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/objects/958/958402.html but ign has made a page about it, the only thing is other websites have the same but they have an expected release date as Europe: The release date is expected to be Q4 2009. 229d 12h ago Australia: The release date is expected to be Q4 2009. 229d 12h ago USA: The release date has changed from Q3 2009 to Q4 2009. 229d 12h ago USA: The release date has changed from Q2 2009 to Q3 2009. 369d 11h ago USA : The release date is expected to be Q2 2009. 413d 21h ago source: http://www.vgreleases.com/Xbox360/ReleaseDate-61383.aspx we have seen developers play the game on the xbox 360 developer gameplay : http://www.gamestar.de/index.cfm?pid=1589&pk=12176 http://www.gamestar.de/index.cfm?pid=1589&pk=12150 http://www.gamestar.de/index.cfm?pid=493&pk=12175 In these videos you can see that the draw distance is quite low, and the textures are quite low probably medium or low. Also it look like there is lag but it may be that its the streaming rate. 1. It hasn't even been officially confirmed for the xbox 360. BI just said that they were interested in possibly looking into porting it over to the 360 2. If that was to happen you wouldn't we have seen it in early 2010 ? i already know that; The ported version will have to be watered down not only graphically but also in terms of complexity, an xbox joypad only has so many buttons and arma uses nearly all the keys on a keyboard but ... I Think they may be waiting for all the glitches to fix, because otherwise you cant really patch a console with a 2gb patch. I Have seen this happen before, as World In Conflict was going to release on the consoles but never did, i hope that the same doesn't happen to this game as i want to play a game on the consoles which is realistic with big open grounds, not stupid games like call of duty the nearest we have on the consoles is operation flashpoint and bad company 2. Come on we need something ... is there any news i haven't covered, and is this game dead release for xbox 360 and ps3 or is there a glimmer of hope for the game ?
It's a very complex game which would be hard to control with only eleven buttons, not to mention how the majority of the console players wouldn't appreciate it's depth. They could of course dumb it down to some degree but then it would lose its charm.
No. God isn't that cruel.

Trigger = Fire Left Trigger = Zoom LB = zoom without looking down the sites RB = Communication with the dpad aswell (brings up menu) Left Stick Move Right Stick Look Around Dpad = could be loads of things 4 more buttons there Back = Map something like that could work.
It wouldn't be ArmA (II).
No. God isn't that cruel.
Yes, Yes it is. [editline]10:33AM[/editline]
It wouldn't be ArmA (II).
Those animated .gif should be banned they make peoples computers lagg

Rofl!
Consoles are gonna be outdated in 2 years.. Why would you want to play cool games on a console?
It will happen once Gears of War 2 becomes multiplatform.
The game can hardly run well on modern computers, what makes you think it will on a console?
what about (oh god) champions online? no. its just not happening..
If it does happen it will be very dumbed down, I doubt they will anyway.
The 360 would need more or less 50 more buttons and 4x the processing power. Oh and more dedicated (and smarter, in many cases) community too, cry about it as much as you want, but even an average PC gamer wouldn't play ArmA2, let alone a console gamer (oh and saying "But I would!" doesn't make sense, if you are on a forum posting then you definitely are part of the dedicated 0,1% of the console gamers).
No because the xbox would explode from the work it would have to do to run it.
If people are dedicated enough to play the game to it's fullest, they'd buy a PC anyways. Putting a complex game on a console is like an oxymoron. People go to consoles to not worry about complexity </Generalization>
No because the xbox would explode from the work it would have to do to run it.
this game eats PC's for breakfast.
It could work on the PS3, it allows keyboard and mouse input.

I highly doubt it, you guys got Dragon Rising or whatever the fuck it was called and it was a total disaster. ArmA is pretty advanced, utilizes almost all of the keyboard, i can't see it being mapped to a controller and keeping the level of precision the PC has. Plus even the most higher end PC's that have better specs then the Xbox or ps3 sometimes have trouble keeping up sometimes. Plus why would anyone want it on a console when you got awesome addons/mods like ACE2 that completely change the game and make it even more realistic and give it more content. Once i started using ACE2 i never went back to vanilla Arma2. When i say this I'm not ragging on the console community, I'm a console gamer as well as a PC gamer. But i don't think the console community would truly appreciate the level of realism of ArmA 2, plus this game is for more mature gamers. You can't be fucking about when playing with a clan or small group who is playing it like it is supposed to be played.
No because the xbox would explode from the work it would have to do to run it.
it already explodes

What's wrong with that? Rare as it may seem in this desolate place it is something that exists.
no because its a bad game
no because its a bad game
You Sir are WRONG!
-snip- Not going to happen

What little audience there is would be tiny... and I mean tiny. No way near enough people would buy it for the conversion to be profitable or even worth the time and effort. Hell, even the PC audience for Arma II is pretty darn small. That control scheme wouldn't work. It's missing so many commands that, while not used in every situation, would need to be used quickly and in a hurry in numerous instances. Also, the terribly slow command system that Arma already has would be even more painful with a controller. I use a 360 controller for flying in Arma but even then I am short of buttons. Regardless, the game is quite badly optimised anyway so the developers would have absolutely no chance porting it to some out-of-date console hardware.
